So Who Do You Want As Our Next Manager

Starting the Mike Williamson campaign now.

40 years old, managed in the National League for four years before moving up to MK Dons and has completely turned them around with some excellent results and attacking performances.

This article from last Summer gives a good outline of what he would bring, ticks a lot of boxes for what we all think a Blackpool manager should be..
Ended up at a Gateshead/Halifax game at the start of the season and they played fantastic football in non-league

Michael Duff or Pete Wild
Pete Wild has Barrow in 5th place in L2 atm.

Don't know what system they each prefer to play, but hopefully one which suits the players they have. Wellens also a good suggestion (if we could get any of them to come here of course)
For information Wellens sets up Orient in a 4-2-3-1 formation most weeks.
Wild goes for a similar 3-5-2

I honestly think Critchley wants to be fired as his approach is unfathomable. In Sadler’s shoes he either has to meet his manager and see how he can help him or fire him get the new guy/gal in who can decide who to keep and who to let go before next season. I’d pick safe hands right now as the manager I think would have been good Mowbray is taken. For me Bowyer manager and Dobbie as assistant until the end of the season.
Anybody other than Critchley he’s finished as far as I’m conserned.

John Colby. Great at building a side from nothing, with very limited resources under difficult conditions. Known for bringing in players from across the globe and getting them playing in a cohesive and attractive manner. Favours a 3-5-2 formation. Only drawback is his sides are known for going missing towards the end of the game.

He has played this system generally all season, the players will be well drilled into roles and responsibilities, we play the system at home and we are the team with the best record so something is working
A lot of the wins at home have been fortunate, we have been outplayed several times but hung on..

Yeah i get what your saying but wins are wins, i would happily get outplayed every game and win 1-0. I get what everyone is saying but for me the players have to take responsibility as well

Oh I agree, but he's making decent players look bad,
I get your point but don't totally agree, who is looking bad? They are all good players they wouldn't be there if they weren't and they should be able to adapt to what is requested of them, the only one i could say about would be CJ not having a defensive roll

I was shouting for Wellens in the summer before we appointed Critchley and I have absolutely no reason to not shout for him again.

If NC goes within a week or so don't be surprised to see Derek Adams as manager. Ex Morecambe and Ross County, it would be a step backwards but I just have a gut feeling that he'll be the next boss.

Someone who can motivate their players.
Someone who realises that players should be played in their best positions.
Someone who is open to ideas and others opinions.
Someone who ISN'T a stubborn little shit.
Someone who can adapt tactics during a match and have a plan B and C as well as an A.
Someone who plays players that are in form.
Someone who ISN'T called Neil Critchley.
Or Appleton or MacCarthy.😁

He isn't going anywhere, a lot of this IMO falls on the players.
All the happy clappers keep referring to Critchley’s first spell here and repeating the mantra ‘he got us promoted in his first year’ he got the plaudits then. He must take the brickbats now. It’s either him or the players or both. It can’t be him then and them now.

Thomson failed miserably at Oldham and was sacked not long ago, thought Critchley was one of the most qualified coaches there is, thinking more like we need an experienced who can manage
Thommo wasn’t sacked at Oldham, he’s still employed by them. He was, and is, chief scout. He was asked to take temporary charge after Unsworth was sacked. He returned to his scouting job when a new manager was appointed.

Pete Wild at Barrow. Young manager who plays entertaining attacking football. He's got Barrow 5th in league 2 on a tiny budget and did well with Halifax as well. He's been linked with multiple league 1 clubs as he seems to be more than ready to take that next step up. I know he isn't the flashy option, but he's exactly what Sadler said he wanted before we got Critchley. Would have to pay some compensation but wouldn't be anything huge as he only has 18 months left on his contract.

I am not putting the whole onus on the players but they have to take a lot of responsibility IMO

I thought this original, but when you can see that the players you have can not play the formation that you want then you have to change it. I can't blame players for struggling when they're not being played in their normal positions and are being shoehorned into a formation that doesn't work. Gets to a point where there's no one left to blame but the manager.

Pennington was Shrewsbury's go to physical player for a few years … strong in both penalty areas . Under critchley he has seemingly turned into the complete opposite. Other players seem to have gone backward too

He was head of recruitment.

Husband would have ran through a brick wall for us a couple of years ago and now he just doesn't have the same passion. I remember us saying he was a bit too enthusiastic at times, I'd kill to have that Husband back.

Why are we looking for a professional manager....?

I'm sure there are more than enough AVFTT'ers who have managed to win the Champions League on Football Manager or FIFA23 and will be up for the job.....I'm sure they would be a total success.......who's the poster that once played at Accrington....he's my vote

Ekpiteta is a prime example, he's a cracking out and out defender, but is not a ball playing CH,
