Solidity rather than creativity.

League one is not famed for flowing football. Most goals are scored from half clearances, set pieces and mistakes. A solid defence is Paramount in this league, but at this time, Pool lack one. I note that Oliver Casey has been named Plsyer of the Year at FGR. He has had plenty of practice. Hard working, grafting midfielders are a pre-requisite, rather than ball players. L1 is no place for kids who want to show their skills, but won’t do the full shift by tracking their man. We are in for a culture shock.

I’d say you’re half right.

You can play against teams in the top 10 but need a plan B to grind out results against everyone else, which Critch eventually figured out.

Was thinking about that L1 season and how we battered all the top teams taking 4 or 6 points off most of them. It was the scrappers at the bottom that we struggled against.

I think Oliver Casey needs to be brought back in used much more than before. Maybe now is his moment, better level and plenty of minutes under his belt at FGR.

Nah I don't agree. Creativity for me. Granted you need a balance and that dcm that we clearly missed this season but give me technical creative players all day long.

What a load of bollocks

Priority one is get the manager confirmed in the next weeks (ideally within 2 weeks). Players go on a break and the action in the transfer market begins in June.

We really need to be able to assess what we have left after contract releases are confirmed. The new manager needs to weigh up the loanees asap

You need both.

In our promotion season, we had the long ball option in Madine, with a creative core in midfield. Versatility is key.

What we definitely need is midfield players who can protect the back four, hold the ball and be able to create chances going forward.

I have lost track of the times this season when we have been overrun in midfield and been incapable of tackling, pressurising or passing to a team mate.

I am hoping Tom Trybull should fit that criteria.

We lacked creativity in our promotion season if anything, we were an unbelievable defensive unit. Most of our games we won 1 - 0, it was incredibly boring to watch at times.
