Some players just not up to it

Miserable bastards. Yes the standard isn’t quite there. Yes we need some experience in defence, but it will take time to gell and they’re obviously trying (bar a few).

The possessional play is there and the team looks lively, we’re just missing that final penetration and a leader at the back.

We'll keep losing until that is sorted.

Worst post of the day, and that's saying something. Be ashamed of yourself.
I'm far from ashamed but if you're happy with results so far then good for you. There's a big differences preparing talented youngsters to play in the Lpool way than signing mid 20's league 2 players and making them good enough to bridge the gap between the leagues. Clearly, several are not good enough. Critchley was a risky appointment and is looking uncomfortable in the job. I do hope he turns things around but I have grave doubts that he will. The Critchley, Mansford, Johnson combo isn't working.

You do hope he turns it around? I'm not sure you do. You take every possible opportunity to criticise him and his players. You are the kind that hopes we lose so that you can sharpen your knife and have a field day on here. I'm beginning to think that you and spider are the same person.

Definitely not. Having supported and watched Pool since 1957 I've seen the good and the bad so earned my stripes. Critchley has up to now has been negligent in not strengthening the spine of the team with proven, experienced players. That is the main reason we are languishing near the bottom of the league. I have my opinion and you have yours. Time will tell who is right and I hope it's you and results improve.

I hope I'm right also. Because it would be nice to see this team and manager ram some of the ridiculous negativity from certain posters on here back down their throats. I would say we are only four games into the season. But it started after game ONE. The window hasn't even closed yet. Yet people seem to think that Critchley thinks this is the finished article and he is too blind to see where the vulnerable areas in the side are. It's embarrassing at times.

i thought for the majority of the game it was a good game between two decent teams we started to run out of steam ward and anderson went awol and we lost the midfield with no real leader to pull it together then you throw into the mix the mistakes we made there was only one outcome i still think we played far better than at gillingham.

I'm glad you have such faith in the Critchley, Mansford, Johnson combo, I haven't. Signing players in their mid 20's who have been plying their trade in league2 or who have been released doesn't convince me that he's getting it right. Let's hope it's onwards and upwards from here, the opposite doesn't bear thinking about. A big 2 weeks ahead in transfer turnover to sort out the obvious weaknesses at cb, midfield and up front.

I don’t think anybody said they are happy with the results so far just not happy with the stupid comments of sack critch and most of his signings . Come on don’t be daft and get behind the club . It’s fine lines and could have been a lot better give us a chance

As I've said Critchley is learning on the job and looks distinctly uncomfortable in the role. I have doubts about several of his recruits from league2 making the grade at this level. Patience isn't my best virtue particularly when I'm witnessing negligence on the part of the manager in that he hasn't addressed the obvious weaknesses at cb, in midfield and up front.

If I criticised your posts in the same manner you criticised critch and the players I’d get banned . sack him and most of his players after 4 games is just daft give us a chance is all I’m saying

Sadler will give him a chance, but if we're still in or around our current league position after the next 4 games then we should all be worried.

Unbelievable.
Not too long ago quite a few on here were predicting automatic promotion. Now after 4 matches and as it hasn't gone to plan the panic buttons are already being pressed.
I commented a few weeks that Critchley is using the Liverpool yardstick of continued improvement, and on that basis, finishing 12th or above would be an improvement on last season. The problem with football fans in general is that they want instant success whatever and it doesn't always work out like that. Whether you like it or not folks this team will take time to gell and I'm certain that Critchley has identified the areas to be strengthened, has anyone considered that those players are not available yet?

So please dont be like the spoiled kid in the sweetshop where you want those chocolates and you want them NOW, be patient this team/squad isn't being built for just one season.

I get the feeling that if we start to see an upturn in results we may not hear quite as much on here from Spider/ 62.

Let’s hope the season doesn’t get curtailed on a points per game basis again, these early results could be very important

As another poster pointed out it’s fine margins in football that make the difference. Be patient everyone.
It was fine margins yesterday. Leading 2-1 against top of the table Husband makes a mistake and the game unravels from the resulting penalty and red card. It was harsh on Husband, who had a good game, and is just starting his season after injury. The team is developing, it's not the finished article, and has only had 4 games. And was one mistake different from the top team yesterday.

As was '62years&counting,' my dad first took me to Bloomfield Road when I was 5 in 1957, and I have loved The Mighty Pool ever since.
My views since renewing home games from Southend last season after 6 and half years of many away games only.
I was pleased when Neil Critchley was appointed and started signing promising U23 players, knowing that he was bound to know all about them after all his years with Liverpool. I was convinced, and confidently put on here, that The Blackpool would definitely gain automatic promotion this season, probably by winning the league.
The friendlies v Everton and Liverpool showed some excellent attacking play but poor defending, although we were playing against Premiership players, so I was okay with that, because there was plenty of time before the season starting to strengthen the defence. I have always believed that you need a spine in a team, a dominant centre half to marshal the back four, a central midfielder that can read a game and pass the ball, and a proper centre forward. If the rest of the team are promising youngsters, the spine will bring them on immensely. We haven't got that, and the defence have been constantly at sixes and sevens in all four league matches. It is very disheartening for a team of youngsters once they go behind and are under pressure. The team will start to look round at each other for a leader, and without one, the last thing we need is to get into a habit of losing. We got away with an awful first 20 minutes against Swindon to win with nice goals either side of halftime. The least we need is a dominant central defender, but the latest signing was promising right back Jordan Gabriel, just turned 22, with one league game for Nottingham Forest and about a dozen appearances for League Two Scunthorpe behind him. There are only a few days of the transfer window left Neil, so PLEASE sign at least a seasoned centre half and hope we can turn the season around.

Admittedly some of the players are young and relatively inexperienced, but the likes of Maxwell, Turton and Husband are not. Also Ekpiteta, Ward and Anderson are 25, Yates is 24 next month and Garbutt is 27. Many of Critchley's signings are from league2 or released by their previous clubs, so it should come as no surprise that some are struggling to make the step up. The fact that he's not added at least a couple of proven, experienced players to the spine of the team borders on incompetence. Should we have appointed a youth / U23 coach with no experience of senior football and of league1? I think not!

You forfeited you’re right to be taken seriously Nigel by your actions through the boycott. It strikes many that you are quite happy to have a go at the new regime simply because it is that: not an Oyston run club which you stood by when everyone else was doing their bit to bring about change.

Incorrect. Living in Scotland I rarely attended home games during the boycott years. Get your facts right before you have a go at someone who has supported the club for over 60 years.
