Sonny Carey

Sonny, Patino, Maxwell, Dougall, Thompson, Lavery, CJ, Madine are all rubbish. Gotcha. Oh and all the refs are biased. Gotcha. I'll await the next thread on the next pool player who's been thrown under the bus.

He has been pretty poor. Ideally I think he was one that would have been eased into the side and had time to develop, but instead we've had to play him due to injuries/lack of midfield investment.

I'd agree that most of them are rubbish. Certainly none of them would get in another championship team

Been poor most of the season. Doesn’t influence games positively.

Hopefully that goal doesn’t mean he will retain his place next week.

Not ready for the Championship.

In a decent strength championship squad and set up Sonny would be out on loan in Div 1 or 2 to build his all round game. He's been chucked in.

Spot on Long Shanks, I mentioned last week does anyone take into consideration that several of our players are simply not good enough at this level.
I reckon there are more who are not good enough than there are who are good enough and sometimes they should be held accountable rather than constant blame for the manager.
Yes, he is responsible for picking the team but we’ve seen everyone play under him and not one has particularly stood out. Jerry, yes, he runs his socks off week in, week out and covers more yardage than anyone but, is he Championship level at the end of the day?
I cannot see us staying up (pessimistic hat) unless a miracle happens.

Ironically in trying to be funny you actually told the truth. Every player you named there is rubbish, and wouldn't even get into a top half League One side.

Ronaldo and Messi would struggle under the last manager and you could add Pele to the list for the 🦖 footy we now play.

Poor again today but agree a season in League one will do wonders for him. He wasn’t alone in being poor though Bowler was dreadful and can’t keep a shot on the ground!

Carey should have done much better in the first half to play Madine in, there was the air shot early on as well in the box and he should have scored instead of hitting it down the middle at 1-0 in the second half.

If we had a fully fit squad Sonny wouldn't be in my starting 11.
BUT he is one for the future.
He's still careless but I do see potential and he will look alot better in League 1.
He also keeps himself fit which for a current BFC squad member is a huge bonus.
Agree ,not been the best this season but far from the worst, done a lot more than some of our most experienced players ,still a young upcoming player who will hopefully get better especially considering he was a non league player not that long ago.

Alot of frustrated football pundits on here sladging off one of better players if he was at Blackburn or somewhere team he d have easied into the team.

I could not believe the number of times our defenders passed the ball to Carey in midfield today but instead of Carey turning and setting us on the attack, under no pressure at all he passed the ball the way he was facing and straight back to a defender and often to the same defender who had passed him the ball. Carey never positioned his body on the half turn, was not aware of the space he had and his range of passing was limited and his passes were easily read and often cut out by the opposition. Carey is nowhere near a Championship level midfield player but that doesn't surprise me as he is still young and was signed from a non League club.

i think a fair summary that .

No he wouldn't. He's nowhere near a championship player. It's not a slight on him , he's just not ready. It's down to the powers that be they were relying on him and a utility player in the centre of the park.

He probably has more shots then any other player in the team. Obviously needs to improve his accuracy but at least he is getting into a position to have a pop at goal while some are content to just look busy.

When he's playing at centre midfield though he should be able to pass a ball to his own player.

Er I bet you he has had more shots this season than the strikers. Can you remember the last Lavery shot at goal? Should the strikers be having less pops at the target than the midfielders ?

the midfield has been over run game after game after game both on the offensive and defensive side of things. You have a point re lavery but that’s another story 😭😭

Lavery has been woeful ever since he got injured. But still doesn't take away from the fact that we need a midfielder that can tackle and pass a ball. Both things that Carey struggled with today.

not just today MrO.

i will say for balance reasons, i think he will do fine for us in L1 and progress from there (if we drop of course 😜)

I've no doubt. He's the kind of player who should be playing in our so called development team this season, not playing every game in the championship.
