Squad rotation over Christmas, good or bad?

Christmas period fixtures over. Critch rotates his squad with the amount of fixtures to be played. Should he not have gone with his strongest 11 hope for no injuries and try and get more points? Clearly the rotation as not worked. However, as they say hindsight is a good thing

I still think having the Sunderland and Rochdale fixtures postponed put a spanner in the works.
Whilst we had our feet up losing momentum both Shrewsbury (who have had a great run of results) and Bristol Rvs were both still playing.
Consequently we were never at the races against Shrewsbury and after 30 minutes decided to capitulate against Bristol Rvs.

That said, Critchley must pick a formation and starting 11 that he should stick to.
Its sending the wrong message out that no matter how well you play you could still get dropped. Where's the motivation there?

you try to keep most happy but end up with most unhappy

The thing about squad rotation is, which is more important, keeping players happy or keeping the results coming in and am sure any manager, as much as they want to look after their players, would always go for the latter.

Critchley should select his best eleven and let the opposition worry about us. Instead he will insist on playing his theoretical game of chess and trying to outthink our opponents before a ball has been kicked. Football is a simple game, score more goals than your opponents and you win, don’t and you won’t. Simples.🙂

If you constantly keep changing formations squad rotation sometimes doesn't work and far easier to have a settled team and if you are needed as a sub or to start you'll go into that position.
