St. George’s day

Hope some on here don’t think showing this is being racist (I’am sure some will) as you never know in todays world.
My fishing mate has just sent it me.

No one thinks the flag is racist, literally not one single person I know, it's always those flying it who think others might view it like that, bit weird.

Really? Not sure about that.
I remember a few years ago a bloke in Oldham was proudly flying the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 flag in his front garden when he got a visit from the local council telling him to take it down as it was making his neighbours feel uncomfortable.
Was in all the papers back then and on the local northwest BBC news so I don’t have to look it up.
So being proud and flying the flag is not all what we think it is.

Ah the "bloke in Oldham" story. I'll file that with Town Hall bosses refuse to fly the union jack and these days you're thrown in jail for saying you're English.

Someone poking a bit of fun or even celebrating the fact he was multicultured is not "frothing". But it reveals a lot about your motivations that you would present it so.
 
Fish face gobbin' off we had to choose a foreign patron saint because we didn't have one of our own, obviously knows nothing about St Edmund.

If people flag waving and celebrating st Georges day bothers you then ignore the thread, or even better, just say enjoy your day lads and lasses and move along, but no, some were on here last night making juvenile comments. Says more about you than it does me mate. I suppose you have no problem whatsoever with the other nations celebrating their national day do you. Of course you don’t.

I’m going with it being a Japanese TV with a bottle of Spanish plonk bought from a German owned store and watching an American Film whilst waving a cross of St George flag made in China just as all true patriots should do, at least the Crisps ate English, made from Irish spuds and Ukrainian sunflower oil 😜

Classic this. Some pound shop Farage nobody has heard of writing for the Daily Express is trying to pretend there's a bunch of shocked, young left wing people who've read his piece and are so offended. Nobody but 70 year old ukip voters read the Express. To be honest I don't blame him. Nobody ever went broke pretending they were cancelled.

It was a good St. George’s day, we went to a team in the top four, were the better team, came away with a disappointing draw and made me proud.

Not really. I'm sure you know the difference between a patriot and a nationalist in the context of this thread. The flag is immaterial. I've personally no issue with flags.
