Currently out of work, was only with us for a short period of time in 2021 but could be the experienced right hand man Critchley clearly needs. If he doesn’t get any viable job offers from bigger clubs in the summer, we should be going all out to get him in. Most recently assistant to Heckingbottom at Sheff Utd so could be dependant on his future as well (being linked with Sunderland as we speak…). I’m not sure what their relationship was like at the blades but you tend to see managers and assistants sticking together, but you never know…

With that in mind, Sadler essentially has two options - sack Critchley and get someone else in, or get someone experienced in to help him. We can rule out Critch getting sacked with near certainty, it just won’t happen. So Sadler needs to support him properly for next season. Regroup in the summer, new assistant, a few signings and we go again…

Too late for a No 2.

Needs a young manager with an exp. No 2 at the same time as a team.

Just can’t see Sadler sacking him. Massive song and dance last season when he came back, we all remember the interviews…Plus I believe he was given a long-term deal. So that only gives us one other option which is an experienced number two.

NC wouldn't accept that now- it would make him look stupid, and probably SS as well because the No 2 should have been here the day NC arrived.

I'm clinging to a parting by mutual consent, then get a young guy in (Dobbie perhaps??? as going back has to work eventually!), put an exp No 2 in with him from Day 1 and he'll have a chance.

An experienced number 2 can't realistically be effectively forced on Critchley. He himself is now experienced so will live or die by his own decisions. One of these decisions is that he is happy with the coaching staff.

McCall is another traitor to Blackpool and has proved nothing as a back up . There are many other out of work that fits the bill rather then going back to that tit.

Dobbie is a motivator and has no experience as a number 2

How about just accepting he’s here next season - because he will be. This Dobbie clamour is embarrassing

Sadler has only ever taken a risk once when appointing a manager and that was Critch Mk1 and it paid off.
Maybe he needs to take a risk again next time which probably won't be any time soon. I don't actually believe in sacking a manager after every bad result and the position we are in wouldn't warrant a clause kicking him out for poor performance. Maybe after a summer of reflection we'll get an improved Critch MkIII version next season. I live in hope.

After A bad result? How many more do we have to have?

I don’t approve papering over the cracks it is not what’s needed a clean sweep is. Sadler has said we need to keep Neil until the middle of next season and then he will pull the trigger we need to wait till then unfortunately and I haven’t got a lot of faith in who he appoints next

... Nowhere near as embarrassing as the 'non-existent' clamour you might expect to hear from certain quarters, in support of Critchley staying, eh?

I thought we would have learned our lesson about re-appointing people who have already shafted us once.

Edit to add: '... when appointing a manager/assistant combo and that was Critch/Calderwood Mk1 and it paid off ...'

If you say he will be here next season that's music to my ears because you haven't got an "ITK" prediction right ever, so it must mean he will be going. You don't half talk some bollocks, ITK my arse!

Pete Wild needs considering as he has Barrow comfortably in the play-offs atm and a slim chance of automatic.
He's my number 1 choice. One of the smallest budgets in the league and he's 6 point of automatic with a game in hand. He's doing a great job for them and proving that you can play 352 in an attacking way.

Critchley wouldn’t take him as his number two but I reckon mcall as manager and critchley as number two would work out very well, not going to happen though obviously

So easy to say, change the manager. We also have a fundamental problem with many supporters overestimating this squad. It is not good enough. It lacks enough skill, quality, consistency and sometimes effort and leadership.

We were in a shit state, on and off the pitch, at the end of last season. That will take more than one season to rectify. Perhaps people's patience was just too short and expectations too high.

How can you have no faith in someone who hasn't even been appointed?

Headline in Gazette.......Pep new manager of Blackpool for 24-25 season.

Enzo down the pub, "didn't I tell you, no faith in this appointment!!"

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It’s a fair point this, however something to think about…

Do you see the progression and development of the team this season? We’ve had two transfer windows to change the shit state we were in, there’s only two players I think who the Head Coach hasn’t been involved in signing…

I’m seeing square pegs in round holes and robotic, structured football with a distinct lack of creativity and attacking flair.

It’s not filling me with faith that we can progress?

Especially when we gave CJ a 2.5 year extension…

I think the acid test will be the next transfer window and how we perform next season. It will will be a sign of Sadler"s investment intentions (on and off the field), the performance of the while new recruitment team in place and I would also like NC to appoint an experienced voice in his team.

Doesn’t apply to certain people clearly.
Arnt Mcall and Calderwood snakes for leaving us?
Bowyer hopped it too and he's currently flavour of the month with many.

I look forward to Gary Megson being appointed to popular acclaim.

There’s no way NC is going to change his backroom team now… it would be admitting he can’t do it and Villa/QPR Critchley is a different guy now.

There is a big onus on recruitment. Did we want a striker in January or attacking options or was he happy with what we’ve got?

Spot on td
And that is simply because he can talk the talk in the commentary box, a bit like Thommo and every other pundit on the TV and radio.
If these guys are so good then why the fcuk aren’t they in a full time job.
There are a hell of a lot of naive people on this forum!

I actually fully agree with this. People seem to forget that we finished rock bottom of the championship barring points deductions for Reading and Wigan. How anyone could expect a squad that could barely string a pass together, to then suddenly challenge for the league below, is beyond me. I wasn't saying to get rid of Critchley, but to give him the support he had with McCall and then Calderwood a couple of years back. Sadler won’t sack him anyway, he’s too invested in him. So might as well forget that happening. I just wish Critch had a plan b when it isn’t going well, instead of just sticking to the original game plan. Just doesn’t make any sense to me…
