Stuck with Critchley?

Are we resigned to Critchley for another season - or is there a slim chance of a close-season managerial change?
Really hope Sadler is bold, and gets rid.
Absolutely not . It’s proving a challenge with day to day activities but I’ve got everything crossed for an early ditch of Critch .

I was told that he was staying and I had to get used to it ☹️
But if we lose on Saturday and with Fleetwood on the horizon, who knows it may all change :)

Irony is we will beat Fleetwood and that will give him wings.
If we got a pasting with Charlie in the dugout - I imagine it would get a bit lively…

The last message from Sadler was that he was enjoying this season and backing Critchley. As we move closer to missing out on the play offs I do wonder if he's enjoying this season quite as much. I would imagine there are break clauses in the 4yr contract, whether 8th or 9th is sufficient to trigger them is anyone's guess. I highly doubt NC will be going anywhere just yet but ask me the question again in 6 months and if we are not top 6, I suspect he'll be a goner.

He's going nowhere. He will get pre season and the first 3 or 4 months. In all honesty taking away any blackpool fan bias it's probably the right thing to do and he hasn't done badly enough to get sacked considering he took on a relegated team who lost a lot of their better players but as fans (all teams fans) it doesn't feel good enough and we deserve more. I'm hopeful he can turn it around if backed sufficiently in the window but if not then boot him after 15 or so games.

I spent much of last year in hospital having had a brain tumour removed.
To help me back to a normal life, my lovely son in law got me a season ticket. But despite, like many of you, having watched Blackpool for about sixty years (we've seen some crap haven't we?) after just a few games it was so obvious how we were going to play that, despite being back to full health, I simply could not force myself to watch the turgid faeces being served up at Bloomfield road. I stopped going.
For me, and I think most of you, it's not just about results. If we want to watch results we can watch the results. But we pay money for joy, for spirit, for heart, for fight, to see a game played with effort and passion. Not just an exercise in hanging on to your job.
At the time I strongly disagreed with those fans saying we should give him until Christmas. Now, I see they were right. We should have.
I genuinely wish Neil Critchley happiness in his life. I imagine even he is tortured by what we are all going through.

29days.
I agree with much of what you said.
I saw my 1st BFC game during WW2 and have been a supporter ever since. Born in Blackpool.
I missed many years living down south and France for a few.
Been back in the area for quite a few years so was a STH until this season. Age has found me out.
Still a big fan though and want success for The Pool.

SS has said he’ll be here next season no matter what, and finishing in 7/8/9 is disappointing, but not a reason to get rid. However, I’m sure SS must like the rest of us be very disappointed with the way they are playing, entertaining it isn’t and that will affect season ticket sales.

Said in another post that Sadler was adamant that Critchley will be here next season and I'd expect he'll show more loyalty to the manager than the manager did with him!

If CJ can get one with 1 and a bit decent performances we are fucked having had 2 good performances under Crotchless s that could be a 5 year extension going on the rate CJ got 🤦‍♂️😣
When you think of the extraordinary deals those two no-marks were given, it's almost as though the club are prepared to offer contracts to any old Tom, Dick and Critchley ...

Is there anyone nationally that earnt their money easier than Hamilton today. Embarrassing 🤬

Sticking with critch will come at a cost next season
If he changes his style and plays positively he may get the fans to return
If nothing changes though it's a downward spiral
The new owner has been massively let down from the start with poor management choices

Downward spiral it is, then ...

I'd say 4 games to save his job. The cracks were showing on Saturday - 5/6 claps at the North and he walked off. These things will be noticed. I'd say if he loses either of the next two games he is on very think ice.

I think we're stuck with him till about November.

I think the idea of bringing him in was to avoid a big refresh last summer.

I think Sadler will acknowledge it hasn't worked as planned but also give him the chance to do what we probably should have done last year - which is lose a few players, get a few more in.

I think he'll be conscious of the fact that we've had a lot of managerial change and that he'll want to give Critchley another go at it because I think he honestly sees Critchley as capable of doing it.

Whether that's right or wrong isn't really what I'm saying. I'm saying what I think will happen.

If we're stuck with him then I hope we go and sign a crop of young players and a couple of really gnarly bastards with character. A Keogh and a Gaz so to speak along with a few Bowlers and Ballards. Get some cast offs with a bit of soul and a bit of nous about them and some players with a point to prove.

If we just pootle along and sign a few 26 year old steady types then I can see us imploding with frustration as whilst I do think we've got maybe 7 or 8 genuinely decent players and a few more who are perfectly respectable squad players, we really lack character, variety and raw ability. The idea of us relying 100% on Rob Apter (or worse, not playing Rob Apter in lieu of an identikit ex Crewe utility player) whilst everyone gets pissed off is horrific.

Whether he stays or goes, the challenge of recruitment is the same I think.

Simon has already said he’s here next season, unfortunately. The only way he’s going to go back on that is if we lose , or draw remaining games we should win and play the same negative football. That would lead to fans making their voices heard in no uncertain terms.

Having said all that, I can’t see us losing at least the next two games and even if they’re a 1-0 bore fest, he’ll be safe.

Ask the teams below us, especially those struggling to stay up if they'd want to be in our position

They'd bite your hand off

Critch is stealing a wage but he's going nowhere

Matesrates, SS is on record saying he wanted attractive football, so you never know.

Here's hoping.
I know, he said that when he took over, but apart from occasional games, it’s been dire. If that’s what he wants, which is what his customers want, then he only has two choices, tell critchley to do it immediately, or get rid.

Surely someone somewhere needs some cones putting out...
How about at the Wall's Ice-Cream factory in Gloucester? I should imagine, especially in the Spring and Summer seasons, they can't get enough of them (cones) - and it comes with the added benefit of being located miles from the Gold Coast!

Hope so, best permanent Manager we have ever had in terms of percentage of games won. (47% this time, 41% last time and 44% overall)
The next best is Alex McFarlane, 91 years ago with 43%.
Before anyone asks, King Billy as some like to refer to him is in 20th place, with 40%.

Except you didn’t take division into account so ratio is a bit meaningless n’est ce pas?

I agree. It does feel like every transfer window we are needing a big rebuild though. Less than ideal.

After last year's double food poisoning in a higher end diner (although Dobbies little cheese & biscuits course possibly proved we could have eaten better) this season has been one bland takeaway after another. Critchley rustling up weekly pizza margherita with his doughball commichefs. I'm ready for a new chef, fresh ingredients, changes to the menu, some might work others not but at least the nervous anticipation of what's coming out of the kitchen.
If not I can see alot of customers eating at home.

Can’t argue with a lot of that td53 in broad terms I think that’s roughly where we are and what we need and I suspect recruitment wise or far off what will happen

We might be stuck with him but we could refresh the coaching staff. And Klopp will be out of work soon. 🤟

Obviously he’ll stay but I hope he knows why the fans are frustrated and realises this season’s errors.
