Talking about set pieces, I’m looking forward to, hopefully, leaving a player up field when we are defending a corner. Critchley seemed to think if he left one player on his own about halfway he would be phoning the Samaritans. My problem isn’t our being lightweight, it’s being so vulnerable in defending set pieces whenever Madine wasn’t on the pitch. I really think that forced Critchleys hand much of the time about what forward line he could pick, because championship teams seemed to sense and exploit our vulnerability. Not quite sure why it was such a problem though, it’s not like they were a team of midgets!
I think Yates will be like a new player under MAStriker who can actually finish
The amount of times Yates had the ball at his feet in the 18 yard box last season can’t have been above double figures. I think he’s an excellent finisher we just gave him absolutely no service whatsoever. I’d also like to see a bit more of the bee to see what he can do.Are Lincoln now t

Will we be getting a horn blower for corners?Talking about set pieces, I’m looking forward to, hopefully, leaving a player up field when we are defending a corner. Critchley seemed to think if he left one player on his own about halfway he would be phoning the Samaritans.
As long as it’s not Custer’s bugler. Will we be getting a horn blower for corners?
Only one very bad injury for Virtue, so not a sicknote. It was expected he would be out for the full 12 months and we may have a massive benefit as he was not rushed back. He is very grateful the club stuck by him and I am hoping he becomes our most consistent midfielderI honestly forgot about Virtue and he could be that player, however he's injured that much that much that can we rely on him? He's kind of like Stewart in that he's a really good player, but not reliable. I hope that Carey has a break out season this year, I really like what I've seen of him so far.
Other than Thorniley we have no left sided specialist centre halves, so Opuku would fill that gap!I just think Marv needs a strong partner and I don't see one who is quite there yet. Tharme and Casey may go out on loan. Thorniley may or may no stay. Keogh seems unlikely to be a regular starter.
Bit of a turn up that Clappers is the ITK person on Opuku! First time for everything.

Me too.I agree
Great shot on him and a top ladOnly one very bad injury for Virtue, so not a sicknote. Jesus we’ll have the 2 oldest centre backs in the country.Sol bamba has held talks with the club.
Did a fine job at MiddlesbroughJesus we’ll have the 2 oldest centre backs in the country.

He’ll be calling Keogh sonny.Jesus we’ll have the 2 oldest centre backs in the country.
Liam Feeney would be cheaper and crosses the ball better IMO.Aaron Lennon anyone ?
Good player on his day but I feel his time with us has been a bit stop and start. Hopefully he can stay fit but part of me expects him to pick up an injury again this season. He's been with us 4 seasons now and only made 67 appearances. Seems to take him a while to get his sharpness back after injury too. Sometimes he looked a little over weight. As a box to box midfielder he needs to be at his best in terms of fitness.Virtue could be the creative midfielder alongside Carey.I do not see him as a holding midfielder and we have enough of them.
People seem too ready to write him off but after a long injury he stepped up to the championship easily, whereas Robson who had played regularly in L1 was clearly out of his depth
I don't see it with Lavery really. For his size and his position he seems relatively strong and holds his own in my opinion. Obviously he's not going to be as strong as a typical centre half but he doesn't exactly get bullied and isn't affraid to get stuck in.I'll give you Dale.
James, Dale, Garbutt at times, Lavery all easily knocked off the ball.
Agree with that, Sterling and Gabriels injuries were costly last season. And we had to rely on wingers due to lack of creativity through the middle. My take is we *need* some midfield creativity and right back cover.
We *could ideally do with* some upgrades elsewhere.
He’s a battler, just the sort of player MA likesI think Yates will be like a new player under MA

tbh I'll judge him when he's had a decent run at LW with aim to get to the line and get it over. To me that's where he will be at his best.I try not to be negative but CJ was bad in league one mate. Absolutely 0 end product whatsoever. Absolutely outstanding athlete, if this was track and field he’d be worth millions but his footballing ability is awful for this level. I’d put dale above him all day
CityMorgan Rodger’s linked Man U lad had a good season for Lincoln and was at Bournemouth last season

Not a step down at all. He didn't get enough game time at Bournemouth so ended up going back to train with City. If he starts regularly for us it would be a step up.I'd be surprised if they let him come here, it could be seen as a bit of a step-down and that's not what they normally want to see.
Plus also close for City to keep an eye on.Not a step down at all. He didn't get enough game time at Bournemouth so ended up going back to train with City. If he starts regularly for us it would be a step up.

I think he went back to City half way through the loan cos he had dropped out of the side? They may like the idea of him having more chance if playing? With a manager who knows him and used him previously?True, but Bournemouth were a top-end Championship side, and with the best will in the world, City are going to see us as at the other end of the table.
Maybe it'll happen, but I suspect City (and the player) are going to need a lot of persuading, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him sent out to somewhere overseas.

I hope someone's got another sign ready to put up that says "No, not those ones"
