I hope he isn't one of the two exciting signings.
Cant find the story anymore but I think it was in Football League World linking us with Lincoln RB Regan Poole.
He does play in both positions but he's a bit small for a CB. (Either 1.78m or 1.80m depending which web page you read)He is a CB according to Wikipedia?
Remember him playing in the MK Dons side that routed us at our place, must have been just before the lockdown. Thought he was very very good that day.He does play in both positions but he's a bit small for a CB. (Either 1.78m or 1.80m depending which web page you read)
Regan Poole - Player profile 23/24
Regan Poole, 25, from Wales ➤ Portsmouth FC, since 2023 ➤ Defender ➤ Market value: €450k ➤ * Jun 18, 1998 in Cardiff, Waleswww.transfermarkt.co.uk
Maybe exciting for us but not so much for him?What happened to Scully, he'd be a cracking signing?

Not sure how true the source is, but as an option to challenge or fill in for JG, he'd be good.
Think his contract is for another 2-3 years so could be difficult to bring in.
If we're going to spend fees on players, I'd prefer they go towards a winger and a CAM.
RB depth is an issue, but don't have a problem with us just bringing in a loan player like last year.
But it is the club’s fault. We have a transfer team who have the job of identifying targets that are achievable. If they do their job, we get the signings.If we keep making bids and losing out, it looks like we’ll be left with scraps. Not the clubs fault, just an outcome of parachute payments and clubs with big crowds and owners with more cash to spend. Wages are obviously a factor.

I think Matesrates sums it up perfectly. We would like to shop at Waitrose, but will have to make do with Sainsburys. Until those with the most cash get their fill we will have to be patient.If we keep making bids and losing out, it looks like we’ll be left with scraps. Might have to be Aldi or Lidl at this rate.I think Matesrates sums it up perfectly. We would like to shop at Waitrose, but will have to make do with Sainsburys. Until those with the most cash get their fill we will have to be patient.
I’d take;hearing a spurs youngster or two on loan no idea who
Alfie Devine would be an exiting prospecthearing a spurs youngster or two on loan no idea who
Believe Parrott is off to Swansea. Not an area we currently need anyway.I’d take;
Harvey White
Troy Parrott
Dane Scarlett
Not if they don’t have the budget to compete.But it is the club’s fault. We have a transfer team who have the job of identifying targets that are achievable. If they do their job, we get the signings.
Then they look for targets and set up deals for loans and frees. They are literally paid to find players to certain specifications. They know the budget and it’s their job to get the best out of it.Not if they don’t have the budget to compete.
2 x wingers gone from Championship teams (Fulham were still Championship at the time) for £20mHull have just bagged 20 big ones for Keane Lewis-Potter. Wonder if they’d be interested in Bowler with that bag int heir pocket.
Carvalho? I thought it ended up being £5M because he was approaching the end of his contract? Did Fulham sell someone else, I've probably forgotten about.2 x wingers gone from Championship teams (Fulham were still Championship at the time) for £20m
Shows what can be achieved at this level if you unearth young talent and develop them.
Carvalho according to my scouse mate was a £20m package deal like Potter.Carvalho? I thought it ended up being £5M because he was approaching the end of his contract? Did Fulham sell someone else, I've probably forgotten about.
I think the next step for us when we get these gems who we seem to be starting to unearth is to get them on decent contracts so we turn £1-3M, into £10-13M.
If you look at Carvalho there was talk in January and before of 10/15 million for him, contracts nearly up and it's down to 5. Bowler and Grimshaw will likely be learning points for the club.
He is from Warrington as well so a move closer to home may suit him, he is an attacking threat from the midfield and has that nasty streak in him as well which we lack, the only issue he may have is he is quite weak and not sure how that would do in the championship but at this point, he would be worth a risk as we are clearly struggling to bring in some faces.Alfie Devine would be an exiting prospect
linked with a championship loan in a lot of those bullshit online sites like football league insider, who basically just make stuff up.
But he'd be exactly what we need.
Having said that, I'm not sure why we'd loan him when we need to see if Apter could play in the Championship
He could share the cost of travel to Blackpool with Jordan T & Owen Dale!He is from Warrington as well so a move closer to home may suit him, he is an attacking threat from the midfield and has that nasty streak in him as well which we lack, the only issue he may have is he is quite weak and not sure how that would do in the championship but at this point, he would be worth a risk as we are clearly struggling to bring in some faces.

Part was loan back, then appearances, etc
Not sure what upfront would have been?

If they don’t get a move on Aldi & Lidl will have sold out and we will end up looking round Poundland.Might have to be Aldi or Lidl at this rate.
think we need to be really careful with our loans this year, it’s not been a great hit record on loans over the last few years.
More like B&M!Might have to be Aldi or Lidl at this rate.
If you go right back to the start of Sadler's time the first ones were Rocky Bushiri and Husband. Husbands been a good servant to the club.Sterling, Wintle were both successes, Dale signed on a permanent and Kirk was an extended trial and so good business whether we signed him or not, only TJJ was a flop last year.
The season before, Gabriel, Embleton Ballard, Simms, signed the first, tried to sign the second, never heard the end about the last two, set against that Kemp and Woodburn.
It's always going to be a bit of a gamble, but the record looks pretty good to me
If you go right back to the start of Sadlers time the first ones were Rocky Bushiri and Husband. Husbands been a good servant to the club.
As you say Kemp and Woodburn were a bit of a disaster. As was TJJ, up there with one of the worst loan signings we’ve ever made.
Gabriel yep very good as was Ballard and of course Simms.
Not sure on the rest, they were just meh. Embo scored a great goal against Oxford in the home semi final. Outside of that I thought he was a bit of a passenger, Kirk provided a decent cross not much else, Dale - well we’re waiting for the jury to come back in on that one, I’m starting to have my doubts. Taylor-Moores best contribution to us came when he was wearing a Southend shirt and scored that 90+4 own goal on homecoming day. Sterling was Ok I stress ok, maybe it was Quitch’s set up but I really expected more than we got from him did he add anything more that JG would have if he was fit? Not so sure he did.
Which is my central point given that it looks like we’re after 4/5 players to take a competent squad to the next level we really have to be careful with our loans. We’ve had 3 really stellar ones 3 absolute turds and a mulch of meh in the middle.
We need two stellar ones for an entire season at this level, something we’ve not really managed yet. The ones that have shone here did it invariably for 6 months in a promotion squad.
They didn’t learn much from Dale’s loan, they can’t have because they still signed him.Unfortunately, unless the club's willing to pay serious money for them, loans are always going to be a bit of a gamble, especially in L1 where the players are taking their first steps into league football.
On Kirk/Dale, the loans with an option to buy were a good bit of business, in that they gave the club the chance to know far more about the player than they will ever learn from scouting, in Kirk's case the club potentially saved £500,000 from not signing a player who didn't work out.
They didn’t learn much from Dale’s loan, they can’t have because they still signed him.
That’s like saying I lost a £20 note but it could have been worse, I could have lost £50.They learned that he was a player they thought was worth about £250,000, and were willing to pay it, much better than the £500,000 they might've had to pay before the loan.
Heron food!More like B&M!
What do herons eat?Heron food!

In fairness, that was an accident. Had they been able to do all the details he would have signed for 500k without the loan.They learned that he was a player they thought was worth about £250,000, and were willing to pay it, much better than the £500,000 they might've had to pay before the loan.
More chance of;I’d take;

Troy Parrott

Agree with most of that even on Sterling which maybe a bit controversial. I'd have him back though. I suspect there's a lot more to come from him, at Championship level. He's a long way off PL IMO.If you go right back to the start of Sadler's time the first ones were Rocky Bushiri and Husband. Husbands been a good servant to the club.

Gary Madine would be great for Parrott as he prefers to operate off the shoulder of a big man.I’d take;
