Precisely my thoughts. I know Brighton do this for away fans but this is a Sunderland bar and only being used on Saturday because of the additional allocation of the FA Cup. Has to be either a Geordie working for Sunderland or an absolute idiot.
 
It’s excellent. There is too much stupidity about this game and it puts off a lot of supporters. Sunderland are trying to defuse some of the tension. One thing is very apparent (living in a mixed area) is that Newcastle fans are really concerned about losing this game and Sunderland are very confident).

It is anything but excellent! This is the equivalent of plastering Nobber colours, flags and crests all over one of the home bars at Bloomfield Road. It's not about disrespecting the opposition but no way should their fans be welcomed warmly.

After all is said and done only one league separates them and they have a rank away record with plenty of injury’s and all the pressure is on them.

There are a few in these parts who share your views but also many Mackem's who do not. I think most in these parts think the whole rivals things between the 2 clubs has got way out of hand and the cycle has to be broken. My mate has to leave home tomorrow at 8.00 drive to Newcastle to get on a bus to return to Newcastle on a bus to get home about 4 when the SoL would take him 20 mins to drive. His Mrs is a Mackem and she has a much easier day. Another mate won't let his 3 sons attend because of the stupidity.
 
The Derby between two massive clubs who havent won a major trophy since 1973 and 1955 respectively (UEFA don’t recognise the Fairs Cup). Little wonder they get excited about the game, they’ve nowt in their trophy cabinets in the last 50 years!
