Sunderland v Lincoln Matchnight Thread

Lincoln are a better side, far more energy, movement and attacking intent. Sunderland look one paced and seem to run out of ideas quickly. At 2-0 the game isn't over but they will need to score the next goal and hope their fans can be the 12th man. Having seen some of their fans comments it could quite easily turn toxic.

Daft is it dounds for a 30 goal striker, Wyke offers very little in open play. Players like Scowen have absolutely zero end product or creativity and got say that Max Power looks so one paced it's embarrassing.

A surprising score line - seemed like a lot of shots and close misses

I think the Stadium of Light will be a cauldron for the second leg - my prediction is ET

I watched grub the back end of the first half.

Sunderland look like a team on a bad run with empty tanks. They never looked like they believed they could convert they chances though.

Lincoln looked reasonable and well organised. A couple of soft goals (a bit like our first last night) and it's theirs to lose.

I'm not convinced 10,000 Sunderland fans are going to back the team like Oxford did last night. The longer it goes on, the more hostile it will become.

I really want them to go to ET and lose only because I couldn't stand losing to them if we make the final. I know too many of them and it would make our double over them worthless.

Anyway, more importantly, let's finish the job on Friday, go out and get another win (it's good for our PO record) and see where who we end up with.

Terry, is that the lad's name. Good on him, he cares, even if wearing his hat indoors gives a worrying impression.

Sunderland only play with 9 men you know. At least they do in his post match analysis, because whenever I've seen him holding court on the merits or otherwise of 4-2-2-2, he's usually so angry by the end of it that he can't get the final 2 out.

Sunderland won't come back from that, I honestly don't think they're capable of scoring twice to even take it to ET. I said when we played them both times that I felt that while we rode our luck a little, Sunderland didn't have much more to offer whereas I think we had a lot left in the tank. I haven't changed my mind based on the game tonight. They're predictable and too slow to move the ball. If Mcgeady isn't on it, they lack guile and creativity. Lincoln have much more about them in the final third and it wouldn't surprise me if they won at the SoL too. Sunderland's only chance is if Mcgeady has the game of his life on Saturday.

Not had chance to read the board or any news today yet so might have been mentioned, but just seen about the Lincoln keeper being injured. They've had to get EFL permission for an emergency loan at 24 hours notice. Joe Bursik signed who played against them for Peterborough in that dodgy ref game the other week.

Lincoln players wearing Clifton Rangers shirts with Jordan Banks' name and number in their warm up. Another really nice gesture.

I watched the second half so didn’t see the warm up shirts pool fc but I think the very sad incident with Jordan has really shown how football fans come together for the good in general, can’t stand pne but I know they would have done the same, it’s the best game in the world by far rivalry’s can be set to one side when something like this happens- looking forward to beating the muppets twice next season though

Taking this as a positive, only because I'd bloody hate to lose to Sunderland at Wembley, would have to stay offline for at least a week , but if Lincoln get through and beat us it'll be a great achievement for them and easier to say "fair play" and prepare for a hell of a promotion battle next year.

Totally agree with you would rather (if we get to Wembley)play Lincoln should make for a very entertaining match.

Was Lincolns goalkeeper one of Robin Hoods Merry Men?

If you think about it he must have been.
