T20 Yorks v Lancs

Yes last two games have been a mess. Some poor decisions. Changes have disrupted the side. Wells should be opening for the power play, Salt wastes it with his run a ball approach. Parky Bailey given one over, why play them. Keeping Wood bowling when he's struggling. Livi and Buttler not acclimatising. All round sloppy, a young Yorks side was fired up and much sharper.

Have you ever watched Phil Salt bat before tonight? One of the most destructive opening batters in the world

Wells however should be opening and Buttler at 4

Too many so called star players have under performed tonight.

We seem a better side when the likes of Buttler, Salt and Livingstone are away on international duty. Very disappointing

I got to thinking what it must be like for i.e. Vilas, who was fantastic in T20 last year and a finalist, to see the likes of Livi and Buttler swan in and take a squad place from him.

And then general disruption/changes to the line-up, captaincy, voices in the changing room etc.

Livi isn't a captain for me. Him and Buttler look shattered the be honest, too. Parky hasn't looked at it for a bit, but with the loan, changes in the team, Livi bowing himself in two games ahead of him now, who can blame him really?

Possibly reading too much into it, but we've looked shocking over the last two games after looking like we'd walk the tournament over the first three. Interested to see how we line up tonight...

Of course i have. I'm talking about his performances for Lancashire. And I'm mainly concerned with the effect of reintroducing the cricket circus players back into a side that is performing well. They've been outplayed in the last 2 games despite having a side full of internationals. With the big guns contributing little and looking knackered/fed up. Maybe the change of captain hasn't helped as well. Maybe players flying home from the IPL are not mentally and physically ready to hit the ground running. And Livingstone doesnf seem sufficiently in tune to be making the right captain's decisions. To me. Hopefully it comes together on Sunday cos im doing a rare away trip. .

You are only allowed 2 overseas players in the starting XI and they are currently the two Kiwis.

That's why Vilas isn't playing.

To be fair to Livi he is a proper Lancs player and has been the back bone of our T20 team for a good few years now . . . Buttler on the other hand.

Ah yes, correct. Slipped my mind that.

Difficult to find the balance in that case but I'd have Vilas in there personally. Though I guess with the money they're on, CDG/Mitchell are hard to drop? And there's extra bowling there.

I love Livi tbh, but I just don't think he's captain material.

Different captain. Different batting order. Use the bowlers or lose them. Where's Balderson? Bell, Lavelle and others have plenty to offer too. But expensive contracts inhibit selection. Im sure the big names will settle in but will we make the top 4? Very tough game tonight and another Sunday.

The difference between the two sides was one of their premier batsmen (Malan) had a great knock and was the backbone of their 190 plus, none of our array of talent performed and Jos Buttler who many would have as the most destructive ODI player in the world when in form ,disappointed once again with a soft dismissal.

I thought he shuffled the bowlers pretty well and actually bowled a decent spell himself.

The problem was with our big name batsmen . . . Salt, Buttler, Livi, Big DG & Mitchell all failed when we only really needed one of them to deliver like Malan did.

We'll come good 👍 🌹

Yes. The difference was they had a man batting through while we didn't push on once in the 20s.
