Over the last few months many on here including myself have criticised our team selection and formation, Saturday's was no exception.....but I will admit our manager got it spot on...playing five across the back gave them most of the possession but we smothered their attacks. He pick the players and formation to suit the opposition play and completely frustrated Swansea limiting them to only a few chances (brilliant save by our keeper late on) Same again on Wednesday onwards and upwards UTMP.

I think with the way Critchley does things, it's always far out of what as a fan we want to see. We want to see our most attacking players and what we think as our best players starting.

I'd never have Connolly in an 11 and I'd probably never have Gaz upfront on his own, but this is where Critch has got us to where we are by changing tactics to disrupt the opposition and for us to get a result.

If we played 4-4-2 all season we'd be very predictable. He's testing and changing things and it's working. Albeit quite often it's a head scratcher when you see that 11 out on the pitch. He's rotated players well and kept people motivated.

Any bottom 12 Prem side should look at him and offer him something he can't refuse because he's frankly one of the best coaches/managers in the UK currently with what he's done with us.

He will definitely be getting noticed by clubs above us in the pyramid and wouldn't be that surprising if he was approached in the summer. Hopefully he's too invested in our project to bugger off at this stage.

There aren't that many clubs above us who would gamble on him at this stage and who would be too good for him to turn down. Most Prem clubs will consider him too inexperienced for that level at this point in time. I couldn't name a top flight club that I think would go for him tbh. Maybe one that gets relegated though. A Norwich or a Watford or a Leeds maybe. Or more likely a West Brom or a Sheffield United I think, a big club that's under performing in our league and sees a progressive young coach doing well in this division as the answer. I think he'd be wary though - different expectations, different ownership and management set ups.

He's got a very good situation with us, for now. Better to wait longer and build his experience and his reputation I think. If he got us promoted he would be able to show what he can do at the top level. He may even end up at Liverpool, you never know, one day. He knows the club and they know him. Probably not but if he keeps progressing maybe one day, he's only mid 40s. I think he's a long game kind of person, and will not jump at the first chance to increase his salary. Reputations can go down as well as up. He's likely to manage in the Prem eventually and earn a multi-million pound salary, no need to panic and make a poor move.

If the money is right he’d go, who wouldn’t.

That's true, his next move from us is critical to his managerial career. It has to be to somewhere where he can prove that what he's done here is not a flash in the pan, so the set up and expectations need to suit him. Not easy to find I suspect.

Not everybody thinks exactly that way, believe it or not! He's never going to struggle to earn a good living. He won't take a job for more money if he thinks he could end up regretting it by going backwards in his career. In my opinion.
I hope your right.
But if a club comes in and trebles or quadruples someones wages I can’t see it been refused, money talks & very little loyalty these days.
Just because we love Neil doesn’t mean he would stay

I'm not staying he will stay whatever. I just believe he would look at all the factors, not just the money. He'll be very well paid whatever he does. He's well paid now. He'll be paid more in the future. When the right job appears.

Listen to Gaz on his interview as Critch told him something specific as well.

I agree with your posts. What is happening at Blackpool right now works for Critchley. He'll be all too aware that clubs that come dangling pots of gold at the front door can also be quick with the boot out of the back door. All that glisters....

Crystal Palace tactics v Man City last night were the same as Pool's v Swansea. Only downside for Palace was they did'nt score but they will be happy with a point.
