Tashan Oakley-Booth. Edited: Interview.......

Blackpool Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Tashan Oakley-Boothe on a two-year contract, with an option for a further 12 months.

A midfielder by trade, Oakley-Boothe progressed through the Tottenham Hotspur Academy, where he signed as a 16-year-old back in 2016 before joining Stoke City for an undisclosed fee in January 2020.

An England youth-international from U16 to U18 level, Oakley-Boothe enjoyed time on loan at Lincoln City last season, where he made 25 appearances in all competitions.

The 23-year-old now joins the Seasiders on a permanent deal following a successful trial period over the summer, having impressed in last month’s pre-season friendly at home to Hibernian.

Tashan Oakley-Boothe said:

“I’m looking forward to starting here after enjoying my time on trial with the Club over the summer.

“One of the main reasons I wanted to join was because of the strong culture around the place. Everyone has the same goals and ambitions for this season and wants to succeed, and that is the kind of environment I want to be involved in.

“I want to improve and add more goals and assists to my name, so hopefully I can bring that to my time here at Blackpool.”

Head Coach Neil Critchley said:

“Tashan is a player I’ve been aware of for a number of years from his time at Tottenham and as an England youth-international.

“He has a willingness to learn and continually improve, so we hope that if he is given the right environment, a system and a style of play that suits his attributes, then he will prove to be a very good player for us.

“He impressed us all with his ability and attitude during pre-season and we look forward to adding him to our squad.”

I think we should give him a chance, he's at an age where there's plenty of time for improvement/development. You don't get in the England set up if you don't have something about you. Let's see.

I think it does signal that we'll be selling/loaning out a midfielder or two though before the end of August.

Not a wow signing, seems to be another injury prone player that only got 1 assist in 24 games for Lincoln last season. I'm usually quiet positive, but surely there are better players that we could be signing. I really hope he proves me wrong.
Can you let us know the names of the 'better players we should be signing', or better still let Critchley know who he should be signing according to you.
Written off before he has kicked a ball - Critchley spots and develops talent. He has given the club a couple of big pay days already (Yates and Bowler), I think he knows what he is doing.

Thats why I said I hope he proves me wrong, I really do. No need to get your nickers in a bunch at someone having an opinion. Calm down 😂

Really hope the stats don't tell the story here and Critch sees something in him... my only question would be if he's been here since preseason and it's taken until 3 games in to sign him there must be question marks?

for ref (playing for Lincoln, Stoke U23, Stoke, Spurs U23, Spurs U19, Spurs U21, Spurs U18, England U17 and Spurs) he has played 159 games and has scored 6 goals and 8 assists...

Fingers crossed he's a player who we can get the most out of (thinking Bowler...) because it seems a strange signing off the bat

He's not one that gets me off my seat, but hopefully he's will be a good squad player at the very least. Just a big worry with injuries, last thing we need is another crock.

What evidence do you have for your opinion? 'Proves you wrong' based on what exactly?
Well the fact he got 1 assist in 24 games for Lincoln last season, he's got 6 goals and 8 assists in 159 games in development squads and senior appearances when he's supposed to be an attacking MF. The fact that Lincoln didn't want him back after his loan last season and they could have signed him for free. The fact that Stoke let him go for free without even trying to offer him a contract. Also his injury record speaks for itself. None of that screams that he's gonna be amazing for us. Like I said, I really hope he proves me wrong and Critchley turns him into a Bowler or Yates and he smashes it with us, but right now all I have to go off is his past clubs, and that's nothing special.

I can see Trybull and Virtue both going, so this looks like covering outgoings. I didn't see the Hibs game and reading reviews from Lincoln fans doesn't fill me with hope. That said, we've had plenty of supposed duds in the past that turned out OK. Good luck to the lad.

I should have copyrighted those stats after I went through and counted them all one by one 😂

Can't say I'm too excited by this signing and the centre of midfield is quite packed already. Trybull must be on his way.

Hopefully he can make an impression though in the first team which he must have already done during the trial.

Welcome to the club.

Not what we need,we need someone half as good as Yeats to solve our striker crisis, hate critchley favoured 3..5..2 it always ends up a back 8

He looked good against Hibs to be honest

Nathan Delfonso was in the England set up, all the way to under 21s. Do you want him back?

He looked decent against His, I hope it means Dougall is off, I think Virtue has a part to play still, if Trybull and Dougall or Virtue go then we ill need Moxon too. We need a decent striker too.

He's 6ft which is want you want in midfield battles. My only doubt is 34 games at 23 years of age which says to me he has injury issues
If this is the case why do we never learn from previous experience

I like this signing, low risk, high reward.

Critchley has a knack for taking on former Prem academy players and I can see why.

The lad clearly has potential, his last two moves just haven’t worked out (seems like he didn’t try at all at Lincoln), but if he’s serious about putting in the work this could turn out to be a master stroke.

This reminds me a lot of Bowler when he signed for us. Most opposition fans had written him off, but clearly had potential, just needed a good coach..
