Team for Derby

Not sure I'd play Husband 3 times in a week so swap him for one of the dev lads.

Surely Holmes is fine by then too, start him, maybe another dev lad, maybe Apter and bring Joseph on later...
It would be good to get some minutes into Joseph, whether that be as a starter or a sub. Apter and Holmes should also feature. I'd prefer to have 1 experienced head in the back 3 however. It's not crucial by any means but a good cup run never did anyone any harm.

I just wouldn't be risking too many given our injury record, we still have a good squad players there with the promising dev players.

Infact Apter may have caused more issues than some yesterday did.

Tharme and Casey played all last season in League 1
So are more experienced than some give them credit for
Lyons and Trybull must have been held back for this game
Playing mid week games at the start of the season with most players not fully match fit needs careful management
We look to have a good squad just short of a couple of additions

We need to play our strongest team available , if we could win against Derby in the Cup, then surely this will breed confidence and help build momentum .

The norm in the Carabao cup is to play a mixture of first team and fringe olayers ago. 2 years ago against Boro Critch went with

Grimshaw Husband James Casey Ekpiteta Connolly Bowler CJ Carey Dougall Lavery

We only need to replace 2 of those! Dom Thom for James and Lyons for Bowler. 😀

I think Brad was actually available for Burton.
Just as a bit of an aside the Development Squad are playing Rangers (away) at 2pm on Wednesday.

I'd play him and Apter on Tues., these are the games they need, games with more meaning more often.

three pawns up front rooks bombing down the side . two bishops forming a resilent mid field. king at the back with the queen in a holding role in front. two knights playing left and right bck. five pawns on the bench. the reverse critchovic double sided gambit. . dont care really just give youth a chance. we should have more than enough for a result. we owe them for the home defeat a couple of seasons back.

Too risky. 3 games in first week asking for injuries!
No chance, 11 changes I recon, similar for derby.

O'Donnell
Lyons, Casey, Tharme, Thompson
Trybull, Dougall, Virtue
Lavery, Apter, Dale

Grimshaw
Husband
Eki
Connolly
Norburn
Morgan
Hamilton
Beesley
Holmes/Joseph (if fit).

Lavery off for Joseph or Beesley at h/t, CJ can have a run at tiring legs after 60 minutes or so, and since it's the Mickey Mouse cup, we'll probably need the other 3 subs for injuries.

Hope he changes the entire team to give them a chance to shine. There’s a few who arguably should have started yesterday. I like the Cups, but league is top priority this season.

Confidence v Calculative

Confidence - Go out for a win and keep the run going
Calculative - Play a weaker side and risk going out but keep your powder dry for the weekend's game.

I'd go calculative myself.

We certainly can't afford to risk Lavery, Marv, Grimshaw and Norburn. Especially with Pennington having a slight groin niggle. Trybull, Lyons and Joseph all need minutes. It'll be interesting to see which way Critchley goes.

Don't dismiss this team as losing. Good team. Don't want injuries to anybody especially most of Saturdays team. Plus can't see Derby playing all their first team either .

O Driscoll
Tharme Casey Lankshear
Lyons Dougall Apter Virtue Thompson
Dale Holmes

We definitely need some more options at the top end of the team.

O'Donnell
Casey Tharme Husband
Lyons Virtue Trybull Dougall Thompson
Dale Beesley

Subs: Grimshaw, Ekpiteta, Lankshear, Hamilton, Connolly, Carey, Apter, Holmes, Joseph.

Quite like this.

Big chance for these lads to push for a place in the team. Think Beez needs all the minutes he can get early doors.

Any minutes for Joseph will be a bonus too.

Well tonight's starters have put some pressure on Critch for his Exeter line up.

Casey and Lyons got praise from Bowyer. Also spoke well of Dale.

Impressive chess analogy!
