Team GB Women's football team v Australia

Absolutely thrown this or what!

2-1 up in the dying moments and let the Aussies equalise. Totally dominate the game then miss a penalty (shocker of a penalty) then the Ausssie's go up the other end and score from a massive deflection completely against the run of play.

Aussie's just scored a 4th. Wow. They will be gutted.

Same old issue of trying to hang on to a slim lead when they were totally dominant. The less said about the officials the better, absolutely clueless.

Went too defensive for the last 20 minutes at 2-1 up, an equaliser was inevitable unfortunately. Hit the post a couple of times before that in normal time and the Aussie keeper made a couple of good saves.

Played well in extra time but the penalty miss was a huge turning point, it was a terrible penalty.

I've got my tin hat on ready.
The standard of football is bloody awful.
Womens football generally looks nowhere near as good as mens, but I just saw the highlights of GB womens rugby 7s beating the USA and that was much better to watch than mens 15s game.
Maybe 7s is just a better watch if you aren't really into rugby but they were so quick, skilful and determined, entertaining.

Rugby 7s of either gender is great to watch, it's basically full contact basketball, real end to end stuff

There are some very good players like Ellen White but then you have some players that are beyond hopeless, the honey monster who plays centre back the best example.

The women's game has improved massively however, 10 years ago it was pretty much unwatchable. Whilst today's game was littered with mistakes, there were some decent play.

In my opinion and I watch quite a bit of women's football there's 2 problems.
The first is in regards to the whole game in general. It's treated like it's under 12's playing , no criticism allowed and everything over praised. A keeper drops on a ball that 57 year old me could save and it's called a good save. Ellen White somehow gets her noggin on a cross and it's a clinical world class header. The reason that Women golfers and tennis players are held with respect is that they are judged to very high standards. The sooner everybody in women's football but mainly the media get that the better. Jonathan Pearce is one of the worst culprits.
Secondly these English players have been over hyped massively for quite a while and their actual talent and achievements have got a long way to go to catch up. Again the media are a lot to blame for that and although it's getting better, the lack of depth in the WSL. They just aren't tested enough week to week and then when they have to step up internationally they flop.

I think the standard generally is OK and improving rapidly. But that was not a good standard today, even if there was plenty of drama. I thought their keeper was the stand out player and but for her we would probably have won. But we couldn't defend crosses into the box.

It’s shit and it’s like a Yorkie bar as far as I’m concerned. Screeching and screaming was all you could hear.. #Sidthesexist
