Teams travelling to games...

Apparently, Liverpool have flown their team from Liverpool for tonight's fixture against Lincoln. Destination... RAF Waddington. Where they had their team coach waiting for them... which had driven from Liverpool. I guess the message is that the environment comes second to football.

Obviously a 3 hour coach journey would have taken it out of the premier leagues top players too much to have performed against a team in our league.

I stayed at the Hilton at Southampton a couple of seasons ago and they were staying there too.
The team coach was there and they flew there and back at that game too.

There is also the initial postioning flight from Southend - Liverpool into the mix along with the return sectors back to Southend. Same aircraft flew United the other day, Southend-Manchester-Luton-Manchester-Southend.

there cannot be much more than a twenty minute difference in travelling, from wherever their muster point is to the airport, hanging around in the airport then the plane with taxi-ing at both ends and flight time probably an hour and a bit, then hanging around for baggage and other stuff to get the bus to the hotel / ground. what's the point?

Blackpool have in the past taken the train to London games for comfort etc, and the coach has driven down and met them at the station - means the coach can go much earlier to allow for traffic etc.
