Thanks for guiding us into the play-offs. Your words of wisdom and knowledge of the game have been invaluable to the club. All this in spite of Critchley's best efforts to guide us to mid-table mediocrity. If you get us over the line then they should give you the keys to the town.

Also an honourary mention to your 2nd in command, 62yearsandcounting. Without your unwavering support through the tough times none of this would be possible.

We are forever in your debt. UTMP 🍊

Poor OP pointing Phill out. He might have been wrong about some things but he was bang on the money about others.

It's ok to sit on your hands all season saying nothing to put yourself in the spotlight and then start pointing the finger and saying "ha ha ha" at the guy that puts his opinion out there to the world every week.

I haven't sat in my hands and said that those calling for Critch's head in October were wrong. I've said all along we could be pushing for automatic by the season end. With hindsight that wasn't far off.

I've disagreed with him on many points throughout the season. And very openly so.

Couldn’t have put it better myself, there’s different views, then there’s terminal boredom negative views, glad the majority of us have remained positive!

Just looking at your position from a neutral point -and I suppose making a case for @Phil_bfc deux very reasonable views early on- that the pivotal thing for you guys was the appointment of Calderwood.
That might have been intentional or otherwise but its made the difference, who seems to have had a similar effect as Tony Parkes did when he came to the club.

No idea why you're singling someone out but good to see you've come through, and hope you beat Sunderland in the final. 5-0 will do 😁

I agree it is probably bad form to do this and we all get some stuff wrong. He just refuses to admit it. 😁

That last paragraph is priceless. I mean, you'd never do that, would you? Still can't work out why you hang around this place, tbh.

Wow

Some right twats on this thread trying to score cheap points from behind a keyboard

Maybe its worth pointing out that i was bang on correct earlier in the season in that we started poorly due to not having the correct personnel in key positions for when the season started

Dougall, Stewart, Ballard, Gretarsson and Garbutt all came in after the season started

And what a different they have made

Its a good job some of us could see where we were going wrong and the board acted on it

No,never; unless its fair and appropriate retaliation or retribution.

I'm a tourist btw (smiley)

What I don't understand is how you think someone wanting better results and looking at ways to improve is negative

Yet someone who is happy with mediocrity is positive

Surely you have that the wrong way around

There would be no point having a messsgeboard if 2010 had anything to do with it. 🙄

At least 2 tons for Phil maybe more in the last few weeks. All credit 🏏

Phil 😎👍🏻

I don't think it really helps singling people out for amateur football punditry .... it's what we all do in the pub. I'm sure it's all light-hearted joshing though.

We are all Pool through and through!!!

PS. Some fella in the comments on the Seasiders Podcast was even referring to our coach as 'Calamity Critchley' as recently as after the Rochdale game. 😋

Only on avftt would you get fans bickering over who was right and wrong at the start of the season when we've just secured a play off place, are third in the table, and have just won three in a row without conceding a goal.
I'm certainly not bickering

Just defending myself to a thread started purposely to be antagonistic and to get other people to join the pack mentality in picking out a fellow poster and Blackpool fan

Anyone who joins such a thread to have a pop from behind a keyboard is a cunt ...
Phil:
Don't let them get to you but if you are opinionated don't expect posters not to have a dig.
Your opinions are of course "yours" and I frequently disagree with you but that makes for a good debate, which is at least generally about football, with a bit of banter thrown in.
However don't expect me to clean your seat. 😉

Whether you agree with Phil or not, it's poor form to start a thread about someone and have a go, particularly on a night everyone should have enjoyed. It seems some people can't post on here without trying to antagonise.
Over the course of the season, Phil said a lot of things we all thought at different stages, he's got things right and some things wrong. Either way, he at least makes the effort to give an informed opinion ( and clearly understands football) rather than spouting any old rubbish, and at the end of the day wants what's best for the club. This message board would be dead without posters like Phil.

If this has offended or upset you Phil then I apologise. I didn't start the thread to upset or anger you. It was genuinely just a bit of light hearted ribbing. I have disagreed with most things you have said over the course of the season but my intention would never be to make you feel antagonised or targeted.

62 years is fair game in my opinion. He has personally attacked many posters on here and I actually think he quite enjoys playing public enemy number one.

Freedom of speech etc is what keeps a democracy alive.
Whether we agree, or disagree, with what someone say, he/she is entitled to say it.

Wiz

There is no doubt that what you say is true but for balance, in a previous season we have been relegated after you have informed us that we are going up so it works both ways.

That doesn't make you a bad man and permanent optimism may not be a bad thing but I don't think we should go OTT with any criticism - I'm sure you wouldn't to be fair.

I quite liked the sheep and polishing your head remarks, they made me smile, other than that, poor form to start a thread like that in my opinion.

But it's weird to only post when we're losing, it's doubly weird of Phil who used to celebrate with the rest of us, just a well of misery and I told you so these days.

It's a bit fucking churlish to sit on your hands now saying the job's not done.

Really?

I thought you were criticizing him for creating debate regarding Critchleys tactics.

It's worked out for Critch following Phil's advice 😉
It actually wouldn't surprise me if some of the things Phil and others said (and probably many of us were thinking the same at that time if we are being honest) after the worrying start we had were read and discussed (or maybe even acted upon) by the club who knows? but they did make changes and they did need to

Total piss take of an O/P.

Another game against a lower placed side where we just do not look like scoring in a million years. It's worrying. This side lacks creativity badly. Been saying it all season. Their manager has won them the game with his changes. Critchley failed to respond and it has cost us.

Who posted that yep 2010 and now he chooses the time to be all smug with I told you so post only on bloody Avftt.

That’s outmoded libertarian thinking that Dave, shame on you in this day and age of bullying, outing, public shaming and finger pointing. If you aren’t with the crowd, then you must be against it!

Sorry wasn't aimed at you, just the general thing of bringing up old threads to see who was right and wrong, and then arguing about it....again! This isn't the only one. I don't understand it, we've had a good season overall which is to be extended and that's what we should be focusing on. To be fair, most people are.
