The AVFTT Obscure 11

Apostolos Vellios

Kirk Broadfoot, aka ‘Scotland’s 42’, as once hilariously chanted by Hoggy away at P’boro

Had literally never heard of him and then saw the shirt sponsor and realised why!

Funnily enough he played - and stood out - at the World Cup that summer before. It was quite an exciting signing to bring someone in who had been at a World Cup… that poor poor bastard. He wouldn’t have had a clue what he walked into !!!

krisztian nemeth - went on to play 37 times for Hungary and still scoring at 1 in 2 now.

veteran of 17 (seventeen) clubs 😄

Jay ET did score a cracking goal for us at Donny. Not sure he is obscure enough for an otherwise brilliantly obscure 11

i remember him being absolutely shocking during his loan from Forest?
Only played once for us according to Wikipedia.

I think that must’ve been MK Dons away in the FA cup 2005 because I was at the game and remember him coming on

Was it Holloway’s last year he decided to sign 50 players and have 3 squads in the hope one would be decent and cover the costs. Alberto Noguero, Banvo Anderson etc..

Plenty of names to pick, but Sergei Kornilenko in the second half of the premier league season is my offer - wiki suggests he turned down a move to Standard Liege for some of Oystons cash instead.

According to wiki again he played once in the league and once in the cup as my memory was of him at a home game at full back. I was at mk dons though but I went on the train and just maybe I might have had one pint too many and could be getting confused…!

Nigel Hawkins. We let Tony Cunningham go to Bury and replaced him with Nigel Hawkins, who was a 'real crowd pleaser' according to the manager. Played once, looked like a skinny 15yr old, fuck knows what happened to him. I named my mum's dog Nigel after him.
