The Bolton game at Home

Bristol Rovers look to be getting a new stand. Saw it on one the highlights programmes. looks half decent. Wrexham have been refused permission for a six hundred seat stand on enviromental grounds . Not sure what exactly but the local council seem pretty sure its not going ahead in its current form. And the Bramley dock everton stadium. JEEZ that is another level. . JUST want ours up ASAP.
Yes Bristol Rovers are getting a new stand at the Memorial ground but they are also planning to build a new stadium in Bristol in the not too distant future.

Depends where we are when we play them at home. If we're in with a shout of the Top 6 then I'd give them the minimum allocation, if we look miles away then they can have half the ground for me!

I don't get why people want Bolton to have a full away end. They will come in numbers and be in party atmosphere. They are probably our main rival in this league, why would you want to give them a bigger advantage support wise.

Nothing annoys me more than when I see that end loud, singing and in party mode, particularly when we are losing, as we did so frequently in the championship when it was full. It's a depressing watch.
Middlesbrough, Sheff Utd, Coventry, Derby and T'rovers to name a few who have filled it, won and took the piss.
Off the top of my head I can only remember Barnsley who brought 3000+ and went home with their tails between their legs.

Well he should look for other outside funding then.
It limits us in so many ways and guarantees we will always be the smallest of the four Lancashire clubs for years to come. Trying to compete in the Championship long term with a 16 k stadium? Just makes us another Rotherham.
Yeah the issue with the approach of 'we can add to it if demand' is there is, by the time it's needed it's not ready. You have to take advantage of thr good times when they present themselves.

Ok the increased usable capacity can see us through just about, but you build for the biggest occasions many years from now with a bigger fanbase and tou must be able to accommodate anyone at that time.

Depending on how we split it, with our capacity, we could have maybe 13.6k max home fans and 2.2k away, with small segregation less if its bigger. But ideally to make money the club want to support bigger away crowds, as when you look at other clubs we're miles behind what they can accommodate.

If you give away fans 4k suddenly we're limited to maybe a bit less than 12k, which we can already fill on big occasions.

We could pretty much fill that in league 1 if playing well an near the top for a big important game, like Bolton.

When building were doing it for decades ahead and the plan is to grow the fanbase and be in the championship which attracts a lot more.

A promotion with fans in attendance this time would help massively to grow the fanbase as many new fans or casuals who attend playoff games or whatever are now likely to attend with the wave of feelgood factor.

So whilst we can adjust with a smaller away amount, it also leaves the club short of key cash that we'll need to progress quicker, by taking advantage of big away followings and having big home crowds.

We're already getting 10k in league 1 easily really, with not an amazing price, Critchley returning who wasn't exactly exciting loads at the time and by having a very up and down season.

Obviously it's easy to spend someone else's money but he did go for an expensive ambitious TG, whereas that can be added to over time IMO, as your not locking players out, you just expand as needed.

So I was initially hoping the stadium would get the same treatment as his ambitious plans, but it doesn't seem so.

Whilst the usable capacity boost is welcome and it could be fine for a number of years if we don't go up, surely the plan is to go up and we could find in very little time at all it's already beginning to limit us.

We only average 9,000 in the home end.
Depending what division we are in (we are a yoyo club with fickle fans) not many away clubs bring a big following.
And the chances of us reaching the prem are slim where the ground would be full all season.
We're not setting th world on fire, haven't offered particularly cheap prices, are not near the top of the league, haven't played anyone big at home yet.

You don't build for an average home crowd now, you build for the biggest crowds in years to come.

If the club want to take advantage of away fans like others do, with important revenue that helps us afford better players, then it's already limited for big games, especially as the fanbase grows.

Wrong first season back in the Championship we beat Barnsley, Blackburn and our biggest win of the season putting 6 past Birmingham with the whole of the East sold out.

Last season we were shit not because of any away allocation, one of McCarthy's best wins was at home to Stoke and they filled both ends cracking atmosphere that match.

The average attendance in the 80s was about 3000 and about 7000 in the 70s
It's also completely irrelevant what we did in the past under awful limiting conditions, it's basically pointless looking and comparing to now.

Complete fresh start under a proper owner, as this season showed the crowds were way higher than some predicted if we looked at the past. Time to push on and build further.
