The Case for Callum Connolly

I contend he should be our defensive midfielder - playing alongside Norburn, Morgan, and Weir - diamond formation when in possession. (Back four of Lyons, Casey, Marv/Penny, Hubby).
He's a leader, tough in the tackle, hard as nails, decent in the air, reasonable at distribution, and has a good shot.
Nor does he hide or shy away from responsibility.

I like CC but I think he's behind someone in every position so I struggle to find a place for him personally. In this formation I think his best position would be RCB.

The DM position is Norburn's, and I wouldn't be keen for us to have two DMs in the side at the moment.

Connolly is brave solid and has a heart. Hamilton has non of these qualities and never will. I hate watching players like that . I could understand if he took players on for pace but that happens once a match.

Our most under rated player. Never gets injured and can play in about 4 positions.

Sign of our strength in depth (in defence) is him and Pennington both being sat on the bench Saturday. They get in most League One sides.

If 352 continues to fail I can see him being used in midfield in a 442 diamond.

Good solid utility player but like Ekpiteta his range and quality of passing let's him down.

If we are looking for quicker distribution and all round let’s move it quicker then as much as CC has many skills, that is not one of them and last seasons stint in the middle proved that.

I think his ability to cover the defense and midfield means he will be held in reserve on the bench most of the time
