The Clamour For Wellens ….

If he’d never played for us, would anyone be arsed about him.
His managerial career has been mixed.
Sacked by Oldham, Salford and Doncaster.

I'd prob say there would be more of a clamour for him if he hadn't played for us. Some of ours seem to dislike him for what happened after he left, means nothing to me that, he's a footballer playing for a different team, he doesn't need to massage my ego for me to appreciate him.
Swindon promoted playing good attacking football, orient promotion playing good attacking football.
Sounds good to me.

Without recruiting a new board who knows how to run a football club in support SS & without a workable strategic plan (including recruitment on & off the field), any appointed manager won't last more than a few months (again). No manager can work miracles & that's what it would currently take to make us a stable, mid table championship club.
As for a name - I haven't got a clue, without the above being addressed first.

I don't understand the dislike for RW. He played 191 games for us & never shirked a tackle. We've needed a player & leader like him all this season.
Retribution for him leaving was delivered when Charlie on his debut, stood on his nuts and got himself sent off - the start of him becoming a legend 🤣
I'll leave it to useless BM to select the manager & have no thoughts on RW getting the job.

I hope we don't go for Leam Richardson tbh. Football style is not that great a watch and tbh his Wigan team were dreadful before he got sacked, even worse than us.

Somebody who will try to play football the right way, any other way doesn't work in tangerine. Wellens would try and play the beautiful game at least.

Wellens would be my pick..Orient were close to the relegation zone when he took over last year, similar to Simmo at Carlisle..Both doing great jobs..Whoever gets the gig will do better than MM has done that's for sure...Awful tactics & awful football..

The problem I can foresee is not only has the feel good factor gone, we were known as a basket case club for years under the vermin and one of the things that happened once they had gone and Sadler took over was not only the return of the feel good factor but for the first time in decades we were being looked at as a club to take seriously again, the plebs had gone, a new owner, new ways, football done properly, it was what we all craved and we had it. 4 years on and in the last 18 months the feel good factor has gone and the mystifying decision making by the club that has caused our fast decline will be sen by the footballing world, the relegation, the managerial fuck ups, the lack of signings and money and a board who don't appear to have a clue as to what they are doing.

All that hard work from the supporters, the sacrifices, the court case the elation and within a really short period of time the honeymoon period is well and truly over. It is going to be difficult to get a decent manager in league 1 with the current reputation the club must have again and just as difficult to sign players as we are going to need practically a whole squad this season because of the terrible recruitment and management when we should have a stable squad, players on contracts that aren't all going to run out this summer and not a team full of crocks who have played a handful of games between them. We must have spunked millions on injury prone players, players not good enough, managers, staff etc.,

So, don't be surprised to be underwhelmed again this summer.

Having bobbed into the Armfield after the game yesterday, I can assure you that 'The Feelgood Factor' is alive and well... We may have to pop it into hibernation for the remainder of this season, but our supporters are down, but definitely not out.

As a club we are currently no different to any other side that has bobbed between L1 and the Championship. I don;t see any reason why we wouldn't be taken seriously, just because we try to manage a sustainable budget when in the Championship.

Next season we need to rebuild the squad and hopefully we'll bring the right bloke in to help with that process and we can get back on plan.

I think I've worked out what's wrong with me Daz. I have realised for the first time in over 50 years I haven't had a Cadbury's Cream Egg this year, it has cnhanged me as a person I am sure of it. What a thing to miss out on, I can't belieeeve it!

It could be the case, 😂 but in all honesty this forum is pretty toxic at times. Obviously we're all gutted as you would eggspect... From a results perspective I think it's been a difficult season, culminating in a really awful week losing to the knobbers and then yesterdays disaster, however everything gets magnified on here.

I'm pretty sure it's toxic cream egg shock, I'm just about to go to McDonalds to ged a cream egg McFlurry!!

I think it's one of the best options where we could actually tempt him away from his current club.

I thought he wasn't liked by Blackpool fans though? The Wellens saga was just a tiny bit before my time.

Wellens would be a good appointment in my opinion as well.

Also encouraging when looking for transfer targets he looks at people who could make the step up and looks forward not just the here & now.

We could do a lot worse.

He was playing for Oldham and got pelters all game and did a going down gesture to our fans in the game which didn’t go down well as an ex player but if he was getting pelters all game who can blame him.

I was only a teenager when he came to leaving us but do recall it not being straight forward and not parting on the best terms on the back of a few transfer requests.

If he’d never played for us, would anyone be arsed about him.
His managerial career has been mixed.
Sacked by Oldham, Salford and Doncaster.
If Chris Malkin put his name forward you could guarantee there would be some muppets who would welcome him with open arms simply because he was an ex player.
I just don’t get this love in with ex players to manage us, even though they have fuck all experience.

A Manager is as good as his last role - McCarthy went out at Cardiff in a puff of smoke, whereas Wellens is earning his stripes at Orient.
Better to take someone on the rise still hungry for the job than someone who is past their best and is working for the money.

You may well be right. I just look at the whole picture and it worries me that he has had a mixed record
