I see the Cods play Accy tonight in the waste of space cup - anyone like to guess at an attendance figure which should really for a local derby be in to four figures?

I don’t remember anyone calling it the waste of space cup last season, or indeed in previous years. 🤔

2019 final (last final without Covid restrictions) there were 85,021 fans packed in to Wembley so don’t think many at that game would share the same view. 😉

How many of those attended a group stage game? Answer. Bugger all.

Looking at the Sunderland v Bradford game as a possible shock. Well a Bradford win would only be a shock to the bookies as the 11/2 on that seems a touch generous.

Especially after the debacle of going out at home in the 1st round of the FA Cup on Saturday to Mansfield, a team well below Bradford in the league 2 standings.

Blunderlands league form has been poor recently also, including a recent splattering by Rotherham. Shall be having a dabble 👍

I remember driving from Stevenage to Mansfield with BRR for a Freight / Daf/ Rover game back in the day (don't ask me what day it was!!!). We won 4-0

I don't regard it as a waste of space cup because as said above we won it a few (quite a few) years ago but then again I cannot work out the fascination with Fleetwood and the need for them to be constantly mentioned on a BLACKPOOL FC forum.
You cannot hide the fact they are rivals. You can deny it but they are only 8 miles down the road and you only have to look at the extra home fans attended at Bloomfield. Some Pool fans drifted off to support them while others had two scarves. The majority of Fleetwood fans hate us and don’t forget the “ Oyston in” flag displayed.
They sent us down to the joy of their fans,
So second to Preston they are rivals and rightfully mentioned on here.

Didn't you just... oh never mind!

Are you sure we won 4-0, I recall us losing there 4-0 with some clown of a Greek/Aussie goalkeeper on a freezing cold night?

It is impossible to state categorically as fact that the majority of any clubs fans hate another club.

The Oyston In banner. Same as Bury, but that was a tiny, tiny minority of their fanbase. Kids who were simply trying to make a name for themselves as some ultras style grouping. And at that time were trying to pick fights with most clubs by winding them up in that way.Particularly on social media where the kids were bragging over being responsible for it, but got slaughtered online by numerous other Bury fans. And I would imagine there were Fleetwood fans embarrassed by that banner too

Lowest attendance in the group stages before today's fixtures was 427 at Salford City vs Leeds United U21.

Next lowest was, unfortunately for them, 566 Fleetwood Town vs Leicester City U21.

Presumably Stanley will have brought some fans this evening, so the attendance will presumably have been a little higher.

There have been a fair few attendances under 1,000 to be fair.

Stanley took about 50 by the looks of it.

I think Grayson is toast two cup defeats in a row AP will be pulling the trigger.

Why the smart arsed ** of an owner thought employing an ex BFC manager would work is beyond belief glad it's starting to bite him in the bum rather than trying to rub our noses in it that he'd have hoped.
I hope they keep him on until the end of the season.

Can they afford to keep sacking managers?

That was a league game. We won 4 0 with Brett coming on as sub late on and getting a brace one of the seasons we won it.

I'd not long been in Leeds and we played consecutive rounds along the M1, at Chesterfield and Mansfield. We beat Stoke at home in the First round. The Northern semis were against Oldham.

Close but no cigar. Was toying with draw no bet as a saver but thought the 90 minutes price was too big to miss, so went all in.

Sunderland going to the dogs though. Bruce next through the revolving door again?🙄

I’am surprised people who know the format of round one group stages has mentioned that Fleetwood had already qualified for round 2 before a ball was even kicked last night.
And if anyone bothers to check the stats Larry put out the youth team last night why wouldn’t you as already qualified?
So then as they finished runners up in the group they go in to the hat on Saturday for the round 2 draw.

So apologies for being the bearer of bad news for some on here. 😂

Ah, I stand corrected. 😁

You obviously don't know the rules your not allowed to put a complete youth side out so many players have to had league appearances or played for the first team either side of the game I think it's at least 5 players.

I didn’t say he made 11 changes did I? but looking at the line up the senior players that did play were only fringe first team squad players.

Granted I should have made it a bit clearer and said half the team was made up of youth players as well as fringe players. 👍

As Jaffa says. - some of the youth in last night for Fleetwood -
6 players had come through the academy - 2 of them have been regular first team - Ged Garner coming on in 2nd half meant 7 academy or ex-academy on the night.
Joey changed things [spent up]. problem at Fleetwood now is that they need some academy players to put 11 players out.

I looked at both lineups and about the only name I recognised in either team was Michael Nottingham.

Can fully understand Grayson putting out a mixture of youth and fringe first teamers given they had already qualified.

17 - Edmondson R. - 20
19 - Garner G. - 23

I did go on the say a mixture of youth and first team fringe players which that clearly is 6 changes from the starting 11 on Saturday.
