Charlie Patino has contributed nothing since those halcyon days a while ago with wins against Preston and Coventry. He is off the pace since his illness, and is indulging in flicks rather than the killer passes we saw earlier in the season. Carey hit a great strike, but is not famed for regaining possession once lost. Pool’s midfield are not providing cover for whoever plays in the back four. They grafted today, but are careless ( particularly Patino) in possession. Pool are not a bad team, but seem unable to mount any kind of pressure on their opponents for any length of time. Charlie needs a rest !

Yet some were defending the Poveda change today, our best attacking player going off, because he gave it away a couple of times.

Yet Patino just hoofed it aimlessly to nobody loads of times and has been poor for a few games now, is physically small, no pace and not a great tackler. He's young and improving and cam be great at times yes... but he's not played well recently.

I think the end for Appleton will be if Arsenal request Patino returns in January given he seems to be going backwards in his development.

Not great form to get on the back of a young kid who is playing his first season in mens football in a struggling team. Yeah, he's been poor recently but he'll be an important player for us in the coming months. I'd actually like to see some of our lads back him up a bit more when he's getting battered by players twice his size.

Does have a good chant though! Hope we've copyrighted it to sell on to his next club!
Would agree though - but is that because he has no protection in midfield and is playing in the wrong system?

This is it. Look at Barcelona and Spain Busquets gives those stylish kids room to shine. When Bridcutt was fit, Charlie was majestic

This rough patch is exactly what I’d want my player loaned out to experience- learn adversity.

Patino is still clearly one of our best players. Yes his form has dipped but you can see he should still be the first name down in the midfield. Those looping forward passes are generally because nobody is in space, and as they bounce high it gives our attack the chance to pressure the defender, who generally concedes a throw, so up we move. Plus if they come off, the same people would be saying a worldy of a pass. We need someone to unlock the door, not grunter L1 players who just huff and puff, and do fuck all else.

Patino gave everything yesterday. Ok, he didn't hit endless Hollywood passes and a few passes went astray but he got his foot in time and time again and did the dirty stuff.

Credit to him for that and if he were available, I'd sign him in a flash.

He's been overhyped from YouTube compilations but he's also put a proper honest shift in time and time again. I thought he played pretty well yesterday and it's a mark of his character that I can say that even when his passing isn't top notch.
