The four who went’s wages

If Byers is on 14k a week it’s to much don’t think he’s worth it.
Bear in mind he was on £14k at a club who clearly pay over the odds and regularly deliver very little but their crowds are 3 times what ours are and so I'd say an offer of £4-£5k would be acceptable (for us, if not him!).

Does make you wonder if we are in a period of cutting costs with the Dev squad going as well. Wouldn't know why though.

Do we know that the Dev squad is going or is it an assumption based on those who were let go?

The likes of Mariette and Trusty were obviously star players in their academy group but they've been sent out on loans to lower level sides and - presumably - not shone in the way Apter has at Tranmere. Could simply be that we don't believe they have what it takes. Now we may be wrong, but every club similar to us has to make those choices as they don't have a bottomless pit to cover the cost.

I'm not sure these figures are 100% accurate but it highlights a couple of things. The gulf in Championship wages and the value of being out of contract. Connolly was in demand and therefore we had to pay him a big salary to bring him in. I'm sure Byers will be in a similar position but I'm doubtful there will be a queue of Championship clubs ready to offer him those sorts of numbers. If we had to spend £1M that would be the equivalent of roughly £6400 a month over 3 years, that's before you even pay a wage.

God, the Gazette has really gone downhill. They no longer have reporters who can do proper or informed reporting

They won't actually be far out, wages are in the public domain and FM gross millions on the games with a small army of researches and data experts

Some clubs actually use their database and scouting tools
A lot of clubs utilise it and quite a few clubs have, as bizarre as it sounds, taken to employing successful players of the game as data analysts and tacticians ! I believe Bromley had someone on their matchday staff at Wembley employed on the beck of their FM exploits !
