The knives are out early this season

My view is that we need to trust SS & co & let them put their plan into place over a period of time , There are no quick fixes unless you have money to burn which SS hasn't . I'm prepared to give them a break especially as their plan was suddenly thrown into chaos when Critch suddenly left
Reasonable view Kings but missing out on numerous signings by making undervalued bids is not a badge of honour. It seems to demonstrate a misreading of the market or a lack of flexibility.

You have to ask if things are actually going to plan when time after time high priority targets aren't signing.
Having a plan and it actually coming to fruition are two separate things.

As an aside to the dire football last night two things frustrated me.
1. Why in each concourse was there only 1 kiosk open. Never thought I would see the day when the queue stretched out to the terraces. I gave up after missing opening 5 minutes of second half. But well done to the servers behind the counters who coped brilliantly.
2. Is there any reason why there was no-one positioned in the East Stand to retrieve the ball.
as for the game - it can only get better. It can - can‘t it?

Still willing to give it 10 games or so - down to the board now to back Appleton and get the players over the line - the ones we have missed are all scoring goals !!! That tells you something 🤷🏻

Go on, I'll have a nibble:

  • I was bitterly disappointed with the appointment of Appleton
  • His brand of progressive, attacking football is the polar opposite of attractive
  • His stubbornness to make this squad of players fit his system isn't working
  • I'm already questioning whether he 'has' or ever 'had' the dressing room, what was a happy camp doesn't seem so now
  • The squad needed a refresh, his approach is more of a bulldozer
What I would say in Appleton's defence:

  • The board have failed to back their man
  • The players are letting him down
  • It's only 3 games
  • In theory 4-3-3 should be more attractive
  • We did need a clear out of some of our fringe players
  • He didn't award himself a 4yr contract
In short, we know he isn't going anywhere, not until at least 20 games, the board made a contentious choice, they knew he would get less rope than other options, they must back him before the window closes, no excuses, or he's a dead man walking.

All this "The board arn't backing Appleton" In other words they are not prepared to spend more than they think the player is worth . That sounds like fair dinkum to me . Why pay over the odds for a product just because some fans & the players agent & club value him higher .
Rebuilding BFC under SS is a long term project that is so far despite a few hiccups still on track . Some "Know it all" fans need to give their head a wobble & calm down . There will be Downs as well as ups , get over it .

Things are only worth what someone is will to pay for them, if the board won't match the worth of the selling club or the wage demands of the player then that's down to our board nobody else

'Over the odds' doesn't make any sense in this context

Sorry ...

Appleton appears to be stubborn. Hopefully he is less stubborn than he appears.

I think the dressing room will have been really deflated by Critchley's abrupt departure. That requires a lot of work and maybe a more charismatic character than Appleton. He's a bit of a ghost in all honesty. He's likeable though, from what we have seen, and honest and genuine. The players just need inspiring and he's like Major after Thatcher, or Brown after Blair.

He does seem to need a lot of new players. I think the board has messed up with the appointment on its own terms becase it surely wanted more continuity. He seems to need better players than Critch did in order to achieve the same aims. In his interview last night he talked about losing a lot of games this season. Eek.

The board is trying to back its man but we jsut don't have that much cash. The players are not letting him down, they are adapting to very different circumstances.

And absolutely it is only 3 games. A rebuild of a team with a new more attractive system (which everybody wanted after the alleged dirge of Critchley) doesn't happen in 3 games. Fans getting distressed and angry is counter productive. He's going nowhere. Some stoicism is required, a human trait that is in very short supply these days! But what is it?!

STOIC MINDSET:

The Stoics teach that we are not disturbed by events, only how we respond to them. They also teach that there is very little inside our control. Merely our thoughts, beliefs, perceptions and actions. That's it.

These two ideas are important for a number of reasons.
  1. Firstly, it instructs us to take responsibility for how we view things, because this is the true cause of suffering. Rather than just blaming the world or other people for our shitty situation or our crappy mood, we are empowered to accept that it's us who create our happiness. No one else.
  2. Secondly, it draws a line between what we do and do not have control over. Many people suffer because we get upset about, or try and control the things in life that we have no control over. And, of course, this leads us to feel helpless, ineffective, powerless, bitter, resentful. We suffer.
However, when we focus on what we can control, we start to become effective, efficient, we solve problems more easily, we suffer less. The key is to accept that there is very little within our control, and focus of effort is that small patch of land that we own. Our thoughts, our actions, our perspective and our beliefs.

Here to help. 👍😆

Would I sack him now ?. No chance. Would make us look a joke. But more to the point, Who would we get instead ?. And he has not been given any chance. Some of our fans are saying that idiot, Critchley, left us in the lurch, Put us on the backfoot by leaving. At the same time saying we should have another change !.

That idiot Critch got us promoted too soon with a squad full of L1 players. He then had the temerity to keep us up due to his excellent coaching. We are now suffering the consequences of the board flapping around when he quit. It was a major blow.

Sadler obviously doesn’t want to waste money but he’s certainly not short! 😉

I honestly think some of the fans posting on here think they're supporting Manchester City.
