Starts tonight at 9.PM on ITV . the reconstruction or re telling of the Yorkshire ripper investigation. Looks really impressive. Toby Jones and David Morrisey take the lead roles. talking of roles . Went out last night for my wives birthday with my son. One of his friends does background artist work. He will be in one of the episodes,. he sent Steven a photo of before and after . its really quite clever with all the retro clothing from the seventies. . ..

THIS was really good. A woman gets ready to go out. Fixing her makeup and clothes. Four of her children sleeping. a run down home in a working class area of Leeds. Daylight breaks . Her eldest daughter and son make their way to the bus stop to await their mother. Wilma Mc Cann will never return. She is a prostitute selling her self for a few pounds to support her family . Her body is found in a field of a large estate . This is the first of the victims. Second will be a hard up mother and father . the wife selling her body for five pounds out of a van that her husband runs his business from. Five pounds that will help the finances and give their children a happy xmas..

I thought it was a very interesting angle on a familiar story, which is almost never told from the point of view of the victims or their families.

It will be interesting to see how they depict the police investigation,, which was a clusterfuck of epic proportions.

Watched part of it last night and had never thought of the victims family members before but that scene waiting at the bus stop was heartbreaking.

Thought the interview with the son of the first victim on TV this morning was particularly appropriate. He gave his perspective on his input to the program and his request not to use the Yorkshire Ripper phrase.

Enjoyed it.
For those of us who were around at the it's something we'll never forget.
Agreed, Dave.

I was going out with a lovely lass from Bradford during part of that time, and it felt very real. I remember waiting outside a club with her friends making sure everyone got into a decent taxi. There was a palapable fear in the area.
