The meltdown has started

We’ve had worse starts to seasons, we’ll have better starts to seasons, we’re not in an awful position.

Get a grip, things will look so much different throughout the league in 2 months time, forget by May. And that goes for every league.

Its frustrating as hell, the optimism of pre season is evaporating, some players aren’t performing, the formation seems arse about face, we can’t buy a goal, we are a few players short and the transfer window is closing soon……but we’ve played four bloody games and also beat derby away convincingly. Exeter and Port Vale both won away today and Burton drew away.

The key is we haven’t lost and in fact today, it was more on the cards than not.

We mustn’t destroythe players, we have what we have and their confidence will be rocked by no goals in 3. Buying a scoring C F is at the Moment a pipe dream IMO — it’s more imp to not rock the boat

One goal today and we‘re equal top AND I saw Orient last season andam surprised theyhave struggled so much so far

Frustrated from a far

I don't understand all this whingeing and whining.
5 games into a new season and we are unbeaten and have 5 clean sheets as well. And our new striker hasn't kicked a ball yet.

If we had been offered this a month ago which of us would honestly have turned it down?
Of course I would prefer to see more excitement and would have preferred to be at the Racecourse Ground today but I still believe we have an outstanding chance of promotion. Certainly more chance than Wrexham!
Critchley is our manager like it or not, and I do like it, but even if I didn't I would still be supporting him now. We are not out of August yet for heavens sake.

I know I did.
4 games in, only 3 off the top 5 and we are already booing. You'd think we were rock bottom

I see everyone quoting the results to put a shine on things ,yet I don't think it's the results that matter too much at this stage. I believe it's the way we are playing that is getting people upset. We have played 4 teams in the league that were not expected to do much this season. Three of them at home ,yet the only convincing performance was the first game of the season. Since then we have hardly had a shot on target ,we don't look like getting many shots on target or not. We seem to lack movement in the midfield and when someone does make a run or asks for the ball our defence seem to pass the ball between themselves and the goalie.

I always want football to be entertaining ,but that's not what is happening . When we were in the Prem we were relegated ,but I never heard too many moans because we attacked every time we could . Well I think that is what people want and are not getting. People Know I did not want Critchley back , and not just because of the way he went ,but that terrible passing around at the back . Well you have got what you wish for and even if we win games ,its going to be a long 4 years of little entertainment.

Three points in our last three games .Carry on like that and Div 2 here we come.

No meltdown here. Patience needed.

Give it 3 windows and we should have a new starting XI, a new manager, a new DoF (Sporting) and maybe some new cones.

These things take time.

I’d be more optimistic if it’d seen a glimmer of hope if we were actually playing well but unfortunate bit we a playing terrible and could and maybe should of lost the last three games I hate critchley never wanted him back and I will leave the ground long before his fist pump shit he’s a cretin and he talks shite

Nobody is in meltdown you clot. Booing boring 0-0 draws is not being melty it's a very valid protest at the shite football on offer, people want entertaining. Then there's those like me who never wanted Critch in the first place, those who have looked at his recent exploits with Villa and QPR and wondered if he is capable of turning that round, marvelled at bizarre formations and lack of wingbacks. No meltdowns just very valid concerns and we're all here to be won over.

The meltdown is almost exclusively from people who wanted Dobbie.

It's just toys out of the pram stuff, pretty standard for this place.
Many of us wanted Dobbie and for good reason. We therefore need to see very good reason for Critch being appointed and I'm not seeing that yet. Plenty of time yet before Big Ted and Rupert need evicting from said perambulator butone of these days the 'in Critch we trust brigade' will realise what a risky appointment he was. I hope the risk pays off.

I’ll say it again, he is as here just over a year ago, with more than half the team he has now. He knows the players and the players know him. He’s had preseason and five competitive games, there’s no excuse for what we saw yesterday, and it’s absolutely right that we express our views.

If I underperformed at my job, I’d be pulled and told, no reason he should be given more and more time. He needs to sort it out now.

When we were promoted under Critch we didn’t have a great start .

We need to give it a few months for the style of play to develop and for the players to gel.

Getting on his back ain’t going to get us anywhere.
You are right ,but just accepting this poor football with no sign of improvement is not going to get us anywhere either.

There was improvement from Tuesday
Critch also makes the point that they are not getting a lot of time on the training ground due to the fixture schedule which you can understand.
However we don’t need excuses we need action . The jury’s out for me as to whether or not this is going to work but he needs a fair crack at the whip just like anyone else we may have got in as manager .

These are the best of times, these are the worst of times. These are the times of wisdom, these are the times of foolishness. This is the epoch of Critchley, this is the epoch of incredulity. Will it be the season of promotion, will it be the season of relegation?

Not enough time on the training ground are you taking the urine? It's the same for everyone FFS never heard such a lame excuse.

Spot on this. Great post. Nobody has seriously called for the managers head but the manner of performance is definitely a cause for concern. This is based upon Critchley's past unwillingness to make significant changes.

Time will tell.

They need to practice don’t they ?

Practice makes perfect. Fail to prepare prepare to fail eh ?

Very good points, but even more impressed with use of the word clot. Love it. Years since I heard it used. Good work Bill 😃

Anyone with a pulse who bought a season ticket, but for insomnia could watch the Parliament channel for nothing.

Lincoln away on Saturday will be a litmus test, win and we will be “winning the league by Feb”, lose and we will be overwhelmed by the shouts of “Critch out” from the many thousands who won’t be there.
The voices of reason will be penning “Critch defences”, 3 -5-2 is the way forward etc.
Me , all I want to see is progress and although Saturday was poor ,it’s clearly showing who is good enough and who isn’t and I would expect at least 3 will be removed slowly from 1st team action.

Keeping the faith UTMP

Still very early days and I’m certainly not worrying, but after four matches, we have a team above us on minus five goals. 🥴

If a new face had been installed as manager resulting in the same points, would we be happy. I reckon I would be, it’s early days and it’s not thrilling football we’re watching, nevertheless plenty of games left for improvement.

No meltdown here - the league table shows that anyone can beat anyone in this league .. that said I do hope we have a few game changers lined up before Transfer Deadline Day.

Happy with:
●almost four goalless hours?
●players looking bewildered?
●scant openings created?

Are you on Prozac?

Ultra defensive at home to a team who had lost their previous match 7-0

Ultra defensive at home to a team who had lost all their matches before they played us

If Critchley won't go on the offensive at home against those 2 teams, when would he?

It is early days yet and I'm willing to give Critch time to change his mindset. Maybe he's thinking we've only got 1 striker with any quality and we'll play it safe until we get another quality striker in to replace Yates.

Get what you are saying but we shouldn’t be thinking like that playing Vale and Orient at home.

I just think he has an idea in his head that involves playing people on the wrong side and he genuinely believes in what he is doing. That is fine as you want a manager to have his own ideas and philosophies. I just think it’s over complex and causing confusion on the pitch.

I was watching West Ham v Chelsea yesterday and tried to imagine Chilwell playing right wing back. I just couldn’t.
