The one positive of going down ...

With all due respect my so called pessimism (I call it being realistic) is based upon facts. Your optimism is based on wishing and hoping.
I'd hope to bounce back within a few seasons.

The facts are all the teams that went down are up there right now. If Peterborough can do it why can't we? We were better than them the last few seasons and a bigger club.

It's been a terrible season and some really poor appointments, bad recruitment and ridiculous injuries. But before that we had 2 great seasons, let's not forget that.

SS will be hurting and wanting to prove he can get us back on track.

Possibly one positive could be that SS realises that having the wrong people advising him and running the club day to day on his behalf can cost him a fortune. Could it convince him he needs more expertise/knowledge/experience on the board?
I know I'm an optimist thinking that, but no-one likes to lose large sums of money caused by a relegation, especially when it's self inflicted and needless. It could actually help to re-establish some focus on getting the right people at the club, because it seems there was a fair bit of complacency when Critchley was here, judging by the disaster that's followed.
It's a good point, nothing focuses the minds like a costly lesson learned.

There's no positives as such.

I'm sure we've all played a competitive sport or two, whatever it may be, and I've always taken the view your aim should be to play at the highest level you can. Only then do you become better.

But in every sport with a league structure there are clubs and teams changing level every year. Stating the obvious but it's what happens. You suck it up and start again the year after.

Luton are a great example of it. First division club when I was a kid, and usually in the top two divisions rather than the bottom ones for a long time after. 10-15 (?) years ago they were in the Conference, what did their fans feel? From Div 1 to non league. Now they're a place short of going back to the top flight.

Sports with league tables are cyclical. The only downside is you don't know how long the cycle will be. And as we all get older it is of course a fair point that we might not see upper division football again. Or we might see it in 2024, who knows. But while there isn't a positive, there's still a club to support, and hope that it gets better again. That's at the base of what drives every fan in the land, it's our turn to hope instead of be part of it.

Assuming the worst happens of course!

The one positive is we will win more games in L1. The Championship has been draining for us this season , we have been nowhere near ready for it.Back to the drawing board of creating something on and off the pitch that would sustain us if we get there again. As a fan you obviously aim as high as you can for your team but I have to admit I've not found the Championship as magical a place as I did when we got promoted there in 2007. It often feels like we're playing an fa cup 3rd round tie as an underdog every week. There's also a lot I don't like about it moneywise. I'm sure a dose of L1 will soon get me dreaming of it again though!

Whoever is taking over needs to be in post by the end of this month to assess the squad and prepare for the transfer window. For gods sake please don’t let’s fanny around chatting with all and sundry until the end of bloody July before making a decision.

That's the problem with us being in the relegation zone.
There will be some that wouldn't want to come to Blackpool if we went down to league 1.
There will be two lists, hopefully 🙏.
One for championship football the other for league 1.
As soon as our fate is known then the appropriate list will be triggered.

Well, you'd like to think so but this is BFC we're talking about 🤦🏻‍♂️

It’s probably time to discard the Championship list then…

Agree we need them in early
We need all our transfer business done early and plenty of time together before the first game to know their starting 11

It's not that going down is something to celebrate, of course not as no guarantees, although it can go well if we get it right, but for me I'm making the best of the situation we'll likely be in and there are things that we can take advantage of.

It's probably easier for us to build that footballing philosophy in league 1 than the championship. In league 1 we'll likely be able to have it more our way and get used to playing a passing style, which could benefit us in the longer term. How long have Swansea has their passing philosophy, a long time, we'll be at the beginning of building a proper one we can stick to.

Rotherham weren't very good and went down, came back up stronger and more prepared and look set to stay up now. It can be done.

OK, deep breath, here goes:
For me, the positive of relegation is that we find ourselves in a competitive league where I can go and enjoy more games while at the same time I can witness the rebuilding of my club.
I am looking forward to that.
The notion that we're going to bounce back should be tempered by remembering just how many big clubs have struggled in Lg1.
It's going to be tough, and not just for us. It's a tough league

I was looking at that and the 2 seasons following it.
I think we were looking at the bounce back, and even looking at later seasons the financial gaps weren't as big as they are now. Rovers and Burnley were just about the same size as us. I think BR got just over 8000 for a Boxing Day home match.

I know our gates were underestimated because of the gate fiddles going on.

Next season is so difficult to predict for Pool right now as no manager will come here until after this season has finished as no-one wants a relegation on their CV.
Until there is a manager in place we have no idea what sort of players the new manager wants. The team will be almost unrecognisable from this year as all the loanees will have gone, some one year extension contracts won't be taken up as I'm sure the board won't want to pay Championship wages in League One, and, sadly, players like Madine who have picked up bad injuries won't be playing much if at all. There is also the question of why the club have had so many hamstring injuries (training issues?) and also the terrible red card sendings off record (granted some were harsh). The club can't afford another season of so many players missing.
So right now it's far to early to say how the club will fare next season.

We’ll have a good year and be challenging for promotion, it will be fun. The ups and downs are part of football, the good times are made better by the bad times.

It really isn’t the end of the world, it’s one bad season and every club has them.

Visiting Bolton fan. If you do go down I think your derby with us would be back on again. Even if we secure 5th or 6th its tough to see us getting the better of whichever of Ipswich, Barnsley and Sheff W don't get the automatics.

We've already sold 14,000 season tickets for next season so very interesting times for us. We had 24,400 on for our Easter Monday even with only 450 visiting Cambridge fans.

If we do play then maybe it'll finally be the year when there's an away victory in a Bolton/Blackpool or Blackpool/Bolton fixture. Not happened since 1977 at yours or 1986 at ours (similar number of games played because we never played between 78 and 85)
