The Pool

If we carry on the form of the last 18 matches then we will get another 38 points, thus 81 in total, this should gain us a playoff place based on historic points needed.

I personally think we will finish the season stronger than this and finish on mid 80's and push for automatic, although that will depend on one of the top two hitting a form blip, it may be argued that Lincoln already have.

Just read TAMs thread on the last 18 games, needless to say, I agree with him and he made the same point as I did on this thread

Ideally we should only get stronger once the injured players return.
There is no reason why, should we continue to perform as we have, especially considering the majority of games we have remaining are at home, we shouldn't make the play offs.

However, anything can and probably will still happen, so let's not count our chickens just yet.

I remain quietly confident, but at the same time wouldn't be overly surprised if Critch started to get a bit too clever again and we end up struggling for a few games.

Not so sure we will miss out.
Let’s see where we are after the games in hand.
Plenty of teams taking points off each other. It’s not a normal season, so normal points targets don’t apply. There’s basically no advantage to playing at home - and we are one of the few teams bucking that trend. Also, we’ve made up a lot of ground after basically starting the season with a makeshift defence.

Surely by the fact that home teams are more familiar with the surroundings is an advantage?.

You’d think so, wouldn’t you.
But a glance across the leagues on any given day and you’ll see as many away wins as home wins and that was never the case before.

144 home wins so far this season in league one v 142 away wins suggests you are correct, home or away makes very little difference overall,

However Pool have won 67% of our home games so far v 37% away from home, a massive advantage for us, why?
Are we too negative away from home?

I’m not sure why, but we are definitely bucking the trend at home.

Next season we are quite likely to be without Gabriel, Ballard, Garbutt, Simms, Madine, Ward, Kaikai. 6 of those started on Saturday.

Next season the bigger L1 clubs will recruit now the cap has been abolished. This season is a great opportunity to get out of the division, with our relative squad strength. It'll be more competitive next season, in all probability.
