The Posh Pitch?

Was it as bad as their fans are saying it was on Saturday? Only seen the goals and so hard to see. Also little appetite for tomorrow night!

Probably no worse or better than ours or many teams at this time of year. They have had problems over the last few years and have spent a fortune on pitches with little tangible reward - Darragh McAnthony their chairman and owner is talking about a DESSO pitch next summer. Since they built the new stands it’s got worse with poor drainage and lack of sunshine on certain parts - sound familiar?

Watched the game yesterday on TTV and the pitch looked terrible. One of the worst I thing I have seen this season

I was expecting it to be terrible but it looked in reasonably decent condition.

10+ years ago people would be saying it was in great nick for this time of year.

You’re spot on sidefoot, pitches have come on a long way in the last few years.

Nobbers pitch last Wednesday was full of sand in parts the commentators were saying. Didn’t look good at all. I didn’t watch their game I just kept flicking on to different games as there were a few on

There were a couple of worn areas around the goals at Posh, but generally I thought it looked in better nick than ours. Like most of the country, we have had above average rain and flooding across here in in the East Midlands this winter. The ground is sodden and can't drain away properly because water tables are so high

It's been that sort of year and for us playing that Forest game after and during the big freeze didn't help. Similar for other clubs.

We've also had Saturday Tuesday games non stop with the cup games etc.

With it being re seeded and with the sun able to hit far more of the pitch, it won't be long until it's back to normal.

Morecambe's pitch has been really good for the last two years, after years of being dodgy by this time of year. Shows that improvements can be made and not on a huge budget.

A lot depends on the ground layout, height of stands and how much natural light gets to the grass. Morecambe don't have tall stands so that will help.
