The sale of Jerry Yates

Personally I don't think 4 mill is ridiculous at this present time. That's not saying I would sell though. He's only just started scoring regularly in the championship over a short period of time. The tendency on here is to over value our own players . Adding millions on just because he's on a long contact is daft. The long contract gives us options and control but it doesn't inflate his value that much.

1950’s?

If so, I don’t think he’s ever seen Jerry play in the flesh..😂

I must have missed that one, but it beggars belief that anyone would suggest he should go out on loan…. Ridiculous!!
Don't think it was him and it was more than one...can't remember exactly, but it was said by some. So ridiculous it stuck with me.

The notion you'd send him (and Lavery) out was nonsensical, both needed game time and proper direction as to their roles.

TBF I’d have happily offloaded Lavery on loan or got rid completely. He’s not in the same league as JY9.

I can see him going at the end of the season if he keeps scoring. Would think 6m to 10m is realistic. He’ll have 2 years left on his contract at that point including the 12 month extension that we have so we are in a stronger bargaining position than with JB. As much as Jerry loves it here, he will certainly want to go if he’s being offered 20k per week and a signing on fee compared to the 6k he’s probably on here. It would be a big gamble for us to sell him in Jan as we need to ensure we stay up first and foremost.

Fuck me reacting to newspaper talk like it actually real, get a grip!
It makes me literally laugh out loud when I see fans bashing the club because a journo makes up a price in a made-up story about our players.
OP needs to get a grip and get in the real world because he would not be going anywhere at that price with a contract that long still to run.🧐😎

I don't remember anyone suggesting JY going out on loan, but there were rumours about Ipswich being interested, and one or two on here did suggest we cash in.

My grip is fine thanks. I wouldnt put it past us to low ball our own players off for a meagre sum, that's all. You can laugh out loud to yourself and your phone screen all you want... 🤪

I don't think we will on this one 👍

It was different circumstances with Bowler, because of his contract situation... We can afford to hold our nerve with Jerry and let's face it, even if an offer of £10M came in this coming January, we would still be daft to let him go.

1. He won't go in January
2. He'll go for more than £4m
3. He's probably "worth" £4m now
4. He'll be worth far more if he ends up on 20 goals for the season
I agree. And hope that's the case.

I make my mind up on the basis of evidence. That piece of "journalism" isn't evidence, as far as I can see, but if you can point me to anywhere he backs up these unattributed "claims", I'd love to see it.
I don't necessarily believe or disbelieve anything. Merely saying that if it's true then its totally shite.

There's many outlets reporting it not just this one. Sorry, I'm not going to use Google for you.

One thing for sure, by the time the window opens he won't be worth 4m. If he carries on scoring the figure is way higher. If he has a lean spell, the 4m is never going to materialise.

Cant believe this shite. £4mil??? He's got 3 years left on his contract ffs! I think our owner and Co. need to lose their own small club mentality. Is £4mil the magic number for these guys? Are we just gonna sell everyone for £4fuckingmil?

FFS what's with this speculation it doesn't help. Why sell or want to sell our best players . Lack of ambition in my eyes and this speculation is only unsettling. Unbelievable

Playing on the left hand side of the front three has given him this new lease of life and good on him!

If he keeps this up then I honestly can’t see us accepting anything less than 10mil.

There won’t be a release clause and the price should be North of £10M and rising with every goal he scores.

Other Clubs and Agents taking the piss out of us because they think we’re small time and desperate 👎
Small time or desperate, we get offered 8 million or plus in January & he’ll be off going on the piss at another club unfortunately

I am Jerry fan but I can't believe the value you put on him here.

We won't need an offer of £10m to offload him in January imo.

I'm not knocking Jerry or the club, I just disagree with his valuation by many on this thread.

When he was out of favour, I don't know how close any move to Ipswich was or if it was a load of b0110x but at the time his value would have been very little.

He's really come on since then and is absolutely buzzing at the moment but has he really gone from say a £500k player to a £10m player ?

He’s worth £10M all day long… His work rate has always been incredible and his lack of goals was down to service and Critchley not allowing him to gain any consistency.

I love him to bits x3 and agree with all you say there but I don't think he's anything like a £10m player and certainly not right now.

I think the majority of folk on the thread would agree with your valuation to be fair.

Not a criticism of the club but if there is anybody willing to pay £10m for him he won't be with us for much longer.

Ah well … you say potayto I say patarto 👍

We’ll live 😂

He's not worth £10mil right now, no, that's for sure.

But would you happily let him go for £4mil in Jan?

Nothing to do with me Appy, if we can get £10m for him then we will do, if not more.

I just don't think his value is anywhere near as much as other posters suggest.

Critchley’s rotation of strikers coupled with no forward passing midfielder was the source of the lack of goals.

Get the ball to Jerry and he will score.

It’s basic football that Appleton is applying now.

It’s impossible for Jerry to be worth 4m and ridiculous to suggest that SS needs £4m. There is no possible reason that he would be sold in 2 months time - FFS get a grip he’s going nowhere except down the Armfield with Mosser on a Saturday night 🍻😉

It's not just 1 news outlet, by the way... it's multiple.

All picking up from the first article if you check News Now there might be 3 plus the Gazette

“Should firm interest emerge during the January transfer window, the Seasiders are in a strong position given Yates is under contract until 2024, with the club also holding the option to extend by a further 12 months.”

From the Appleton interview with Scrafton yesterday

Enough for appy to feel the need to respond in his prematch 🙄

I wonder how Crich feels now?

Dropped Jerry and only gave him crumbs to feed on when brought on. Appeared to like crab style football. Result goals dried up.

Whereas Appleton has used him correctly and the goals are flowing, and yes I know we are probably in a slightly worse position this year to last, but we are watching exciting football, we are scoring goals and I'm confident the rest will come.
