The speed of the turnaround

Almost 2 years ago we played at home to Peterborough, great game, one of the few exciting games of that season and we won 4-3. From the 18 in the squad that day only 1 was in today's squad (Husband) and only one other remains on our books (Virtue).

It's pretty remarkable to go from that squad of players (which had already changed significantly from the one Simon Sadler inherited) to the current squad which has depth at almost every position, is young, fearless and talented, in such a short period of time. All I can say is thanks to Simon Sadler, Neil Critchley and everyone else that has played a part. Normally you'd expect it to require more time than that because that squad against Peterborough was pretty poor (I think of the others only Ollie Turton is playing above League 1 and most below)

Edit to say I'd missed Nuttall was on the bench, which I think is a forgivable mistake to make.

Really good post this.

I find this particular game fascinating on a number of levels. My son still talks about it a lot as it is probably the single most exciting game at Bloomfield since he was old enough to understand what was going on.

The goalscorers are a fascinating examen of how fortunes differ so drastically in the game. You have:

Ivan Toney who got a big move to the Championship, scored tons and now plays in the Premier League.

Mo Eisa and Armand Gnanduillet who have only ever moved sideways since.

Marcus Maddison had a huge fall from grace, and quit the professional game at 27 years old. Plays a bit of amateur footy now.
