Very brave man, I hope he keeps it up throughout the tournament and is joined by others from all over the world.
The World cup actually gives us an opportunity to focus on the appalling civil rights record of Qatar and to let them see how most of the rest of the world views them.

What history of football has Qatar ? None.
Where are they in World football? Nowhere.
Except of course by owning some high end football clubs, especially in Europe.
Why have they got the world cup? Because they have bought it.

But they are a bit selective about which bits of their Holy Book they decide to believe in. And which bits they don’t. Is it strange that the bits they choose to believe in most of all just happily entrench their world view and power?

The same as the rest of us when we decide on what are our “core values”. It’s odd how those fundamental principles that we believe in coincidentally dovetail with our own self interests.

Fwiw - the LGBT networks (which are not vocal, for obvious reasons) in Quatar were not keen on Tatchall doing what he's done, but he did it anyway. That's according to the football journo Phillipe Auclair at least.

The concern from different elements surrounding the World Cup being held in the country of an autocratic regime where a woman’s rights are only half those of a man seem to be gathering, I’d laugh my cojones off if it all collapsed gloriously.
