The trouble with transfers....

Seemed back in the good old days transfers were pretty straightforward. Players were put on a transfer list and got rid of. Players that were sought after by other clubs were told what the value of the player was and paid it pretty much in full. Was all pretty transparent, now it's a Web of confusion. Whispers and hearsay..
Is that down to the ridiculous price players go for or agents, Social media and people like Nixon???
Think I've answered my own question.

I doubt transfers have ever been straightforward. They just haven't been publicised, scrutinised and discussed to the extent that they are now.

Transfers were simple until agents became involved. The manager used to tell his chairman a player he fancied, the chairman contacted his counterpart , if said player was available he was allowed to talk to enquiring club and negotiate his terms. If the player was young , he took his dad with him . Simple times .

Worse thing about a transfer is for kids when they get their favourite player on the brand new shirt and he leaves 3 days later

I spotted such and example yesterday and it made me quite sad

I think it should have to be all done before the season starts so managers and fans know what they've got. Lavery scored 2 and several in pre season could now be bought when plans all in place.

It is what it is, it probably hasn't changed that much. Look at the other side of it, we placed a bid for Moxon, his agent or someone within Carlisle leaked the offer and now he's stalling on signing an extension. It may well be our next offer, if we make one, might be viewed differently.
