Now this isn't hear say from someone via someone it is from a family member who works at The Vic. No reason to disbelieve but happy to be corrected, hope it is wrong or misconstrued.

PPE at The Vic is limited to face masks only, not full PPE, due to the soaring cost this is a message from the trust to clinic staff.

No could be utter bollox before I am shot down however can't see why they'd make it up.

I have it on good authority that the above statement is not exactly true, masks gloves and aprons are provided!

I hope you are right GJJW.

Although factually I know a radiologist at another hosp was given no PPE and has the virus (confirmed) the union they work for is taking action against the NHS.

Like I say, hope I am wrong or they have misinterpreted what has been said. Not here having a pop at The Vic. Family wellbeing at heart.

People are being asked to stay in and don't socialise to help the NHS cope due to the Kung Flu. But we all know that the situation with the NHS is that it has been underfunded and run down for at least the last 10 years.

Perhaps, and just perhaps certain wards aren't taking measures like other wards. Just a thought.

Hope your daughter is safe at these times at BVH

What a load of toss, anyone dealing with covid patients and in theatres are dressed like spacemen. Would imagine general wards have safety measures with staff wearing appropriate gear.

Perfect timing 👎🏻

My partner has all the correct PPE gear when treating covid-19 patients at Salford Royal. I’ll be very surprised if BVH don’t have the same.

Quite shocking if true 😟

The o/p is rollocks what is happening is on the wards with the virus the staff have all the equipment.
In other wards they don't use all the kit but what has happened they have sometimes found patients with and then had to disinfect the whole ward.

Yep, because with a labour government everything would have been in place for this disease that we knew fuck all about.

I've seen some stupid comments on this forum this morning.

My son is a nurse on A & E and has volunteered to work in the C19 isolation ward because in his words "there's only me and the dog and other people have young kids" anyway he assures me that he has access to all the PPE he needs.
I'm so proud of his actions, but I'm not getting much sleep
I am pretty sure if he's a nurse, his immune system will be pretty good and should he contract it his odds on being okay are quite high. Fair play to him, the real heroes of this nation.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 to your son and all NHS staff and any other persons involved in helping those suffering with this dreadful disease.

My Mum works up at the Vic and said supplies for protective gear were running worryingly low. I must add she is on a regular ward and not a Covid ward. That said there was an 80 year old lady diagnosed last week and who died who was on my Mum's ward. They had to shut ward down to disinfect and deep clean the entire ward. Scary stuff for alp, especially those at the hospitals.

I don't know about the Vic but I understand a problem is not that hospitals don't have the equipment but they run out by the end of the day.

They might just have acted on the pandemic exercise recommendations instead of burying it in the same way they allowed Grenfell to happen by not acting on reports submitted to them.

Community/district nurses are having a tough time with ppe, having to question patients before getting correct ppe, then having to see patient who is not wearing any ppe themselves. A bizarre policy. Can see the mental health professionals having the same problem.

Are you really that thick as to be comparing this and Grenfell? Jesus wept.

How many children die of starvation every day - whatever number it is, it shouldn't be happening but it does. Grenfell was shocking but not in the same ball park as that.

Same old posters spamming the board with same old infantile political gash. Come on Mods. Get this tripe removed. Nobody wants to read it.

"My dad says Tories are best"......."Well my dad says Labour are". TEDIOUS. Get a life.

I work in Community Mental Health luckily we have been given face masks from a Care Home. Items have been ordered but there are problems with NHS Supply line. We are now buying our own and will be reimbursed.

Do you need to ask questions, temp, cough etc re patients you are visiting and do they need to wear ppe, although what good is ppe like masks when it has not been fitted for you or them. Govt and NHS playing russian roulette.

My 2 family members working at the Vic have received full body kits and have had them for nearly 3 weeks long before the first C-19 patients arrived.

You unintentionally cast my mind back to drinking pints of Boddies in the Vic. How I miss those times!

Sorry.

Took my next door neighbour up at weekend, admitted to a ward. She has been tested for covid19 while in there, says some of the staff are wearing masks, gloves. Been up a few times to drop her some gear off, never seen underwear like it😂,drinks and books, sometimes I get stopped from going in,leave gear at reception, other time I could go upto ward and give staff the bag at the door. I wont tell you what she thinks of the ward, she wont be clapping tonight.
