Money has to be right.wish we could keep hold of him. Sadly think we’ll end up losing him
We could, but we probably wont. We need the money for the new training...Oh hang on.We can tell them to get fucked at that amount.
There is a 12 month option, so effectively two years left on his contract.£2m f*** right off! I know JY only has a year left on his contract and we will be a L1 club but we still hold all the cards, unless there is a minimum release clause in the contract (which I don’t believe there is) BFC will only sell if an offer matches our valuation.
There are other factors to take into consideration other than the club holding out for £X or refusing to sell at all, we are not in a financial position to run down his contract and leave for nothing and the players wishes need to be taken into consideration, it would be wrong to force Jerry to stay and play in L1 at this point of his career if he didn’t want to and who wants an unhappy player in the dressing room!
I think that Jerry will unfortunately be sold this summer, there will rightly be a lot of interest and he will go for more than what is being quoted by Rangers who want him on the cheap and will be blown out the water by financially bigger clubs in the Championship or possibly lower end Prem.
Given the difference in TV money (not to mention ticket sales) is 6M we need to think hard about severely weakening ourselves before accepting anything but a grossly inflated figure for him.Best chance to get promoted back to the Championship (sorry I accept we will be relegated) will be with Jerry leading the line, now much is that worth, suggest it’s far more than 2 million. So simple keep him unless we get offered silly money.
But we don't reinvest.Money has to be right.
In an ideal world he will stay.
If teams are valuing him at around the 2 million mark then I hope the board will tell them where to go.
Spot onJerry owes us nothing. He's put more than a shift in on our behalf. If the opportunity to stay at a higher level comes then nobody could deny him the opportunity.
The board have created this situation. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
Rangers always make silly offers"Rangers reported to be unwilling to part with much more than 2m"....then....."Understandably so".
I closed the site as soon as I read the Understandably so bollocks.
If clubs were asking for circa 1.5m for average L1 midfielders, then Jerry is worth far more than 2m.
I get it that 5m is unlikely because another season has gone since that valuation, and we've only got a 1+1 remaining. But a proven 20 plus goalscorer in L1, and 13 in a struggling championship team? £2m , that's a joke
Far more than 2m , but I'd rather keep him.
If we had reinvested even half of the Bowler money, brought in two £1 million players for example, this season could have been very different. We could have avoided the drop and saved a lot of money there. Plus, if we bought well they could have gone up in value a lot! It's all very odd.But we don't reinvest.
Critchley money.
Bowler money.
May as well keep him and let him go on a free I that's the case!
I guess the problem was we didn’t sell him until the last day. Maybe they weren’t sure he’d be sold so couldn’t commit to making bidsIf we had reinvested even half of the Bowler money, brought in two £1 million players for example, this season could have been very different. I'm guessing they had a reasonable idea. They had the Critch money too.I guess the problem was we didn’t sell him until the last day. Maybe they weren’t sure he’d be sold so couldn’t commit to making bids
We bought dom Thompson and that attacking mid that we already sold that I can't even remember the name of. Andy lyons as well for 300k. And everyone else is either a loan or a free transfer. If we had reinvested even half of the Bowler money, brought in two £1 million players for example, this season could have been very different. Why worry it's not our money. Let's accept league 1 and enjoy. We where never going in the prem. Rather be a good league 1 team than a very poor championship team. .If we had reinvested even half of the Bowler money, brought in two £1 million players for example, this season could have been very different. If that's the case, reject all offers that do not meet our valuation.I don't think there is any chance of getting some of the valuations mentioned in this thread tbh.
Scott Twine went from Div 1 to Burnley for over £4m with no experience in the Championship. Not really sure why people think Jerry is worth more than 2m. That is quite a significant figure for what will be a League One striker. Ideally we keep him though as you need a goalscorer to have any chance of being near the top.
Because I support this club and poor decisions lead to relegation? I would also prefer to be in the Championship. More money, mid week away games on Sky, better players etc.Why worry it's not our money. Let's accept league 1 and enjoy. We where never going in the prem. It'll be the usual, its a big club we cant hold him back excuse whilst the money makes the balance sheet look better. Bowler all over again. We shouldn't be even entertaining any value of less than £4m for Jerry, it should just be a flat refusal. Promotion from league one is worth more than that and he'll be pivotal next season if we're to achieve it.
The only way we're going to shake off how we're perceived by other clubs is to start behaving like a club with ambition, and like other clubs do with their players when they get much greater fees for them. I see this perception as a hangover from the Oyston days when they sold players like Wes for peanuts because of their contracts. It'll take time to rid ourselves of it, and we're only going to do it by refusing derisory offers on a regular basis, even if it means not selling at all.
It's really short sighted though - every player we sell cheaply make's it more difficult to get value for future players we help develop. We get long term gain from removing the perception that bargains can be had from raiding BFC.It'll be the usual, its a big club we cant hold him back excuse whilst the money makes the balance sheet look better. Bowler all over again.
And therein lies the problem. The 'Blackpool Way' pfft!We shouldn't be even entertaining any value of less than £4m for Jerry, it should just be a flat refusal. Promotion from league one is worth more than that and he'll be pivotal next season if we're to achieve it.
