There comes a point...

Where a manager has to take a few risks. We’re not going to go down, we have 49 points.

But yesterday was an example of both managers thinking “no risks, hold onto what we have, try and nick a goal”.
Now Simon Grayson’s teams can play like that until eternity, and in all likelihood they will.

But from a Blackpool point of view, there is absolutely no point in playing like this. The only remaining game in which a point is a good result is Oxford, because they are going for the same play off place as we are. Otherwise every draw just puts more pressure on us to produce a big run of wins from a smaller number of games.

If we had gone for it in the last 3 home games, won 2 and lost one, what long term impact would losing to any of Crewe, AFCW or the cods had? None. But we would be 3 points better off. I would far rather see us have a lash at it than simply watch the season dwindle away.

Appreciate what you’re saying and agree to an extent. But there’s 15 games to go. The season isn’t petering out...yet!

Lose the next couple of games it will be, but I genuinely believe we’ll beat Burton and all the pressure is on Oxford on Saturday

We played 2 up front and had 24 shots...
4 on target totally meaningless stat.

We don't have the players to simply go for it look at the subs bench yesterday not one is a game changer and when you don't even have a striker there your clutching at straws.

How is it meaningless in the context of the manager not taking a risk? He doesn’t take the shots. We set up to score goals - hence 2 up top and 24 shots being relevant.

We created enough to score, on another day this would been another deserved 1 nil win.

If we'd taken more risks it could have led to them scoring instead.

I'll take the draw over throwing the game away.

Did you watch the game they defended not to lose and allowed us to boot the ball against their defensive players 24 shots yeh right.

Good logic but it ain't going to happen. Critchley isn't your, "Cry 'Havoc!' and let slip the dogs of war" kinda guy.

I do think on Saturday we gave it a good crack, to me it seemed as though we easily should have scored/won and the xG confirmed that claiming we should have had just under 3 goals.

I said similar on a thread last night, it would be interesting to see an attempt to make us more creative/threatening from the midfield - if it worked we'd absolutely storm it. I don't believe we will be taking any risks on our style of play though as it is currently *working*, we are averaging a decent amount of points per game which if it continues could see us sneak a play-off spot - I wouldn't mind seeing us playing the way we played on Saturday though going forward, I thought it was much more positive and on another day its easily a win.

I'd also add there are certain games that are less worth risking than others, Fleetwood at home falls into that category. I'd also argue we did try to push for a winner, barring sending Maxwell up for corners I'm unsure what else we could've done given the players available on the bench?
