Things the queen never did...

Never able to truly and freely share her opinion. Must have been incredibly frustrating. The number of times she must have wanted to speak out or up about certain matters but instead had to discuss a love for horses etc.

She was a smart woman who would have known more about the goings on in current affairs globally than many and would have felt like she could have made a great difference / impact at times yet had to remain neutral. Sounds like absolute hell being in the position.

...go into a shop and buy something...ring somewhere to complain/query... use a cash machine
I think she toddled around the local village near Balmoral (Ballater is it?) without any hassle, and went into the shops occasionally. And I bet she did ring up a flunky to get something sorted if she didn't like it 😊

Probably to be free to wander about without any worries or security guards. Yes I seem to remember she & her sister sneaking out to join the celebrations after WW2. Or have I dreamt that one.
I think they were accompanied by two Guards Officers as chaperones. And a police sergeant; presumably to keep an eye on the Guards Officers.

A very telling part f that fantastic story is the Queens approach to it.
How many other world leaders would have done the same thing? None I guess.
A wonderful, woman with a great sense of humour.
