Currently enjoying this series created by Steven Knight ( creator of Peaky Blinders). He certainly doesn't hide his love of all things Birmingham City FC. In Peaky Blinders there were several nods to BCFC. This new production has already made reference to his beloved club at least 6 times, including photos of the team and the club flag hanging on the wall of the Happy Trooper. If you are interested in the music scene around Birmingham and Coventry in the early eighties then this series is for you. Also combines political events of the time. Several mentions of the Zulus too.

Yes, stuck with this the other night and it was growing on us by the end.

I struggled with the first episode, although the soundtrack was great, but will persevere given the positive reviews here plus the missus liked it. The accents were all over the place though, even worse than Peaky Blinders.

I studied in Birmingham 79 - 82 (away from home for the first time). I fell in love with reggae, ska and 2tone….it was a whole new world opening up in a big city. I lived in Moseley (referenced in episodes 5 and 6). Needless to say, I have binged and loved every minute of this. 😎🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

Don't watch the new Bob Marley movie, it's shite!! Going to see Julian Marley in June here in Cambridge and the Wailers in November.

Must agree it wasn't worth all the hype. Off to see the The Legend music of Bob Marley tribute at the Winter Gardens next week.
That’ll be a good show. Check out the link, they’re a Bob tribute I saw a couple of years ago at The Picturedome Holmfirth. They were brilliant. I see that they are playing The Continental in Preston in May.

Accents are not just brummie though, Coventry is very different plus all the paddys

Brummie isn't a hard dialect to understand. People confuse it with the Wolverhampton accent.
This town's a slow burner for me.
I'm doing the episodes week by week.
