This will go down well

And to think some of us, me included, thought Pilley and Dog food Dave were the answer when the rapist and his family were in charge🤦‍♂️

Absolute verbal diahorrea from a whopper who really thinks he's something. Horrible man. Fake club.
I cant say I know Haythorthwaite, but he spoke fairly, honestly, giving an insight into football ownership as he sees, the points he made were fair, and I thought well put over... I am disappointed at this dislike of Fylde, I go and watch them with my son, from time to time, as I enjoy watching football, in clean modern surroundings... Your comments regarding Fake club?, you mean like Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea Wigan.. etc, all rich people's playthings, that until the rich bloke took over in each case, were relatively unsuccessful, Liverpool, no title in 30yrs, City were in the 3rd Div, Wigan didn't exist, Chelsea, were 2nd Div..... Dog food Dave, can be what he wants, if you don't like it, ignore him/it,

Wigan were in the League since the 70s TBF.

I just can't warm to the guy and his prominent Brexiteer status and subsequent messages haven't made me change my mind.
That seems a fair decision, rather than the character assassination, and assumptions made above, by someone, who probably has never met him, (I haven't either), I based my replies on the video I watched only...

Well, that is fifteen minutes of my life I won't get back. He was literally making that up as he went along, in my view. And if his central (only) point was that running football club comes with a lot of financial baggage well - no shit, Sherlock.

A few specifics :

1. That stuff about Dave Whelan's health was all a bit distasteful. I'm bet the bloke's family loved all that

2. He clearly has no real idea about what is happening at Wigan, or why. That's fine, very few people do. So why burble on and on about it on camera? He started off trying to say that they were the first big of casualty of COVID before getting round to saying that actually, the owner had been subsidising them for years. Which brings us on to.....

3. He does not seem to see that - for all his bitching - he is complaining about the consequences for him of running the club on an unsustainable model. A furlough scheme that "only" pays your staff up to £30k per year is something that you should be grateful for. He chose to moan about the fact that he couldn't continue to pay fifth tier footballers a grand a week. If that is a problem - pay them less in future.

He's a throwback in many ways. He's overpaying his players, has built a white elephant of a stadium for a fanbase that doesn't exist, never did and never will, and doesn't seem to think that he is actually a big part of the problem. I have absolutely no sympathy for him. I do have sympathy for the staff who now have their livelihoods at risk because they have the misfortune to work for an edifice built on sand.

Wiz

I am surprised that you would think less of a person because they were of the opinion that Britain would be better off out of the EU.

You won't be alone but I am surprised.

Just another factor in the overall deal. He's got increasingly bitter and his recent pop at Blackpool and innuendo on pay cuts just sounded petulant.

I thought his reference to pay cuts at Blackpool was very poor form whether or not there was any truth in what he said or not.

Putting that and all other reasons, I am surprised that you would factor in somebodys opinion on Brexit when rating a person.

No big deal, I am just genuinely surprised and I thought you'd have plenty of good pals who were Brexiteers and plenty of good pals who were remainers.

True enough.

Both DH and AP two men who were formerly Blackpool fans have basically thrown millions of their own money in to their respective clubs, and took them far further than their small fan base's could have ever imagined are now both saying the same things, football is not sustainable in it's current format and change needs to happen immediately, the CV19 crisis has simply accelerated the situation. Look at Simon Sadler and our situation right now, there's no money coming in to the business and hasn't been for some time now and yet he is paying money out week in, week out, the buck stops with him and he's the one having to write the cheques, nobody outside of the Middle Eastern sheiks and Russian oligarchs have got a bottomless pit of cash to spend and able to sustain shelling out cash for a sustained period of time. Wigan will be the first of many and the next couple of years we will see a number of clubs going tits up, and lets not forget that our club is not immune to that danger.

add the Chinese to your middle-east/Russia list. Otherwise, exactly right.

I'd be interested to see how many clubs ACTUALLY go under.

One already has (Oswestry).

Krasner has said some interesting things overnight about this. He thinks several League clubs are in danger and that at least one other Championship club are contemplating administration. I wouldn't trust him or his judgement very far, but his views are presumably based upon SOMETHING.

His estimate of the value of BFC was way off 😉

Personally thought it was interesting and honest assessment of the realities of where things are right now and maybe were already prior to this.
By the way can we have a dislike button because there are certainly some posts on here I would want to without having to post a response as that might just lead to a major falling out or worse.🙄
