Thommo leaves Oldham

Oldham fans consensus seems to be Thommo steadied the ship, the football wasn't great but he got results and turned their season around. They seem pretty split on whether he should have got the job full time though, some are shocked he's gone, others didn't think he was the right man for the gig permanently.....

They also seem to agree that he's a top bloke, with bags of experience, obviously things we already knew. All the best in your next venture Thommo.

I can only assume that Thommo is rubbish at PowerPoint and general managementspeak, as he is clearly a highly effective football person but never seems to land the jobs. I bet his lazer pointer technique needs work too. Football - pfffht 😕

Surely Oldham will go for John Sheridan, he hasn't managed them since September 2022, that's over a year now.

He's due another stint, he's done it four times plus two as Caretaker.
Perhaps, he is seeing his next possible stint at the club, will be the one in which he acts as their official 'undertaker'?

If you read the Oldham forum feelings are mixed about Thommo. Quite a few bemoaned some very poor performances against basement teams recently despite the results. The home draw on Saturday v Dagenham was pretty bad by all accounts. A few saying he's been short of three or four better players the club needs. He's a no. 2 and therefore it's maybe more about Redfearn?

Is Mellon the answer? Maybe, at that level.

I’m sure if Crichley broached it with Sadler it would probably happen but my guess is Crichley isn’t interested.
