The new sporting director is set to be announced when they can according to yesterday's statement, the wording suggests to me that said person is possibly in work and they're waiting for something to do with that, maybe agreeing their severance with their current employer or similar.
There's been plenty of shouts recently for employing people who know the club and the town etc be that as Head Coach or elsewhere in the club
Thommo is currently in a head of recruitment role at Oldham, knows the club, loves the club, lives locally, is a legend here for the fans, has a wealth of experience and contacts in the game and if it's going to be Dobbie as Head Coach they know each other and have had success together here before.
Ticks plenty of boxes, given that a head coach would already be in place (or close to it) and that the identifying managers/coaches part of the role would be less important for the time being at least........
Personally if he was going to come back I'd sooner it was as First Team Coach but as a left field suggestion I wonder if he/we would be interested in the step up to the sporting Director role?
