Season loan.
Probably the right call.Season loan.
I think the arrival of Richard Keogh may have pre-emtied this. For me Thornley was never a long term solution but with Casey, Keogh Gretarsson Ekpiteta plus Husband and Connolly if needed Thornley was not going to play. Although he played last season I think Critch has always been looking to move him on. We might have someone lined up as we generally do when a player moves on we will see. I also think this could be the beginning of the 'clear out' for the likes of Nuttall, Howe, Sarkic, Antwi, Holmes etc. Should be interesting to see what transpires this week.Think I would have preferred to keep him until we had signed another similar player.
Antwi and Holmes are two of our most promising kids, 18/19 years old.I think the arrival of Richard Keogh may have pre-emtied this. They are but they need game time to develop and they won't get that with us this season so I would expect them to head out on loanAntwi and Holmes are two of our most promising kids, 18/19 years old.
Let's hope we do have some further signings this weekI thought he was great last season, good signing for Oxford. I get the feeling there may be some incomings this week.
I think there is something in the offing....we have not taken up our interest in the Leicester kid and now Thonrnley has gone....previously when we let someone go its because we have something lined up. Everything the club do these days is meticulously planned so there isAnyone think a new signing , possibly a right back incoming to let thornley go
I think it's likely this move will be made permanent in January.I'd like to think that Critchley & the club have done the lad a favour here - obviously NC doesn't rate him so has done the right thing and moved him on to get first team football and reinvigorate his career. In addition this also clears some wages for another player, maybe a right back!?
Recalls are no longer allowed!Agree with AK and others above. Nothing particularly weird about it, just that there's at least five ahead of him.
Yep Jordan did well whenever he was called on, so did everyone else. The bottom line is he needs to play, he's an experienced capable pro. He can't afford to wait for several ahead of him to get injured.
And presumably we can recall if needed?
Thorniley hardly the quickest is heIMO a shocker— can’t believe in the thinking behind this one - we bring in Keogh and ship Jordan out …… Keogh is obviously going to be our weak link defensive wise….cannon fodder to the young whippet’s in the Championship!!!!
Agreed. Never let us down and a much better option than Keogh. A good signing for Oxford. Good luck Jordan.Would prefer him to Keogh
Signing imminent?Weird
I too have reservations regarding Ekpiteta. We will soon find out.I personally rated Thorniley higher than Ekpiteta. Certainly from watching him at the back end of last season. Marvin always makes me feel nervous, I'm not sure he is the answer at centre back, certainly in the championship. I hope I'm wrong.
No. Season long loans are as it says on the tin.Agree with AK and others above. Nothing particularly weird about it, just that there's at least five ahead of him.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. I'm think there's usually a "get out of jail" card that can be played in the January transfer window for both parties.No. Season long loans are as it says on the tin.
Think you specifically have to put a clause in to state the option of a January recall, like West Ham did with Kemp.I'm not sure that's entirely true. I'm think there's usually a "get out of jail" card that can be played in the January transfer window for both parties.
And yet.. we brought Keogh in who makes JT look mobile and pacyGood luck to the lad.
Didn't let us down but his lack of pace was always a concern and he would only be more exposed at Championship level. As you move up the divisions the major change in players' is extra pace.
