Me old dad, whenever the goals were shown, never failed to point out that I made him "miss that on the day". Left in sole charge, he parked the pram outside the back door and apparently I was crying every time a goal went in.

I like to think that story's a tad apocryphal.

My sister was 3. She was kicking off a little during the second half and my Grandad insisted my Grandma took her to the park

Watching from a packed front room in St Annes. And getting sacked from the parish church choir for not turning up for a wedding.

Watching a very small black and white TV in the front room of a German family in Munich who I was staying with for three weeks that summer. I’d stayed with them the previous year whilst attending a course to improve my German which I took at O Level the following June before flying out after the first round of matches.

So I had the pleasure of seeing us win with the commentary in German.Fortunately the family had no interest in football but did watch with me.No KW famous words for me that day.
During the previous visit I went to watch West Ham play 1860 Munich the year after they had won the Cup Winners Cup…still have the programme( in German of course)
Eldest brother,lucky so and so,was at the final and in fact all of Englands games but my experience was different
