Thoughts on that.

1. We must find a way to improve our creativity and goal threat coming from the centre of the pitch. Currently it's zero. Zilch. And consequently we struggle badly to break teams down that sit back to defend a lead. This has been our achilles heel for the last two years. Whether it's new players or new systems but a huge improvement is required there if we're to make any progress in this league. I know this has been said many time before, including by me.

2. Defending was terrible for both goals. Keogh and Ekpiteta will walk back in to the side easily. I didn't think Casey had the best game but not going to judge on so little game time.

3. We are finding our injuries really starting to catch up with us now. I think Keshi and Carey, along with the two aforementioned defenders, would've made a big difference tonight.

4. Corners. Instead of taking them, we might as well give the ball to the keeper and get on with the game if we're not going to even attempt to try and improve on them. I haven't seen any evidence of this at all in months. It's pathetic.

5. Dale is the only player capable of consistently putting in a decent cross. When playing a team sitting deep, CJ isn't going to get any joy using his pace so that change should've come at half time. I think he looks like he has some promise but he's the kind of player that needs a midfield that plays possession football and is much better on the ball than Dougall and Connolly. He's never going to do well chasing long balls, he's small and isn't particularly quick. But he does have quality I think.

6. Dougall and Connolly. Good player, great at battling, fighting for the ball and protecting the defence. But neither has that technical ability to play a nicely weighted pass to unlock a defence, or display the movement that allows you to keep the ball well. Not enough composure in effect, and I think we need to see one or the other (when injuries allow), rather than both together.

7. We could play with a five man advantage and still not win at Loftus Rd. File alongside Portman Rd.

8. Late goals. We have a very worrying problem of conceding them and we need to find a way to solve it. That's now 13 conceded in the last 15 mins of a game:

9. The ref. The whole red card incident could've been avoided if he'd correctly awarded us the free kick for the blatant push just seconds earlier. They don't help themselves sometimes.

10. I wish we'd throw caution to the wind sometimes. We're safe. 100%. It doesn't matter if we lose but let's give it a go. I don't think we did that tonight and that's the most frustrating thing. Let's hope we can start Paul Ince's next massive losing streak on Saturday.

1) Yep, sideways and then flat towards the D, they get a foot in and we're defending.

2) Both were HUGE misses tonight.

3) It's a good point about the injuries, easily forgotten.

4) Just kick it straight out of play, saves time, oh that's what we do anyway.

5) Too much floaty rubbish from crosses or overhit drills.

6) Trouble is everyone is looking for that kind of midfielder, not sure we have the cash unless we get lucky.

7) At least they knocked down Salterbeck.

8) No idea why it happens, might just be luck.

On point 6, I find it a total mystery why we haven't signed a loan player in that position. We've clearly been struggling there most of the season, and even the club acknowledge we need to strengthen that position otherwise they wouldn't have been trying to sign Brannagan.
Think we only have Sterling on loan don't we? Surely there's another KDH type languishing in a Prem reserve team somewhere.

Yep, you'd think so, I'd imagine we've tried.

The team need to up their game....but

A. Critch needs to up his.
B. We need to train & play in a way that causes fewer casualties.
C. We should put our tactics ahead of defending against the opposition.

Nope. I am usually the positive one, but criticism needs to be balanced.

NC got it badly wrong. From the vantage point of the away end you could see it clear as day.

Bringing Madine on was the right move, but why would we continue to play across the back four with him on?

Madness. Makes no sense.

Pile. Of. Shite. Tonight. No excuses.

I don’t think we’ve tried very hard. Every time Critchley has been asked the question he always says he’s happy with what we have for that position. It seems he’s happy with a jack of all trades, master of none eg. Connolly in that position. Unless he concedes what most of us can see, nothing will change.

1. We can do it, we just don't do it often enough tonight we were poor in the first half. Both bowler and CJ were wasteful
2. I thought both CBs played well tonight, but we had a moment of dropped concentration at the corner and a sucker punch for the second. Marv defo straight back in but not sure about Keogh personally. James looks out of his depth at left back at the moment. We have husband and garbutt out though, sterling is a better option at left back. James wasn't particularly good going forward tonight either.
3. I think the real problem tonight was keeping the ball and getting it forward or just holding it up the defence were making good interceptions and then we were giving it back from midfield.
4. Our set pieces are pretty bad. It looked a couple couple of weeks ago that we had put that to bed but it's a genuine weakness which is inexcusable really.
5. Tonight our passing was woeful. Our crossing even more so. Again the last few games we have been getting the ball into the box but not getting players into the box on the end of crosses. Tonite was the reverse we actually had players in and the box but didn't get the ball in
6. I would disagree about dougall, he's not David Vaughn (yet) but his range of passing is very good.
The rest is fair comment.
The ref was shit but then he's always shit. The red card was a direct result of the QPR defender getting away with three obvious fouls on CJ, lavery and finally James.

We have no idea how hard we've tried. Creative players and goal scorers are the hardest players to find on a tight budget. Critch isn't daft, he would love to have these players if we could find and afford them. Hopefully summer will bring what we need. We will be seen as a solid Championship team this time round. A better option than we seemed last summer. Ballard thought Millwall would be a much stronger side than us in this league, it seemed. We should use the loan market if necessary, for that extra quality in those positions. In my opinion.

He can't say anything else though really.

Was so weird, we were lumping it all the time when he wasn’t on the pitch, when he did come on we completely stopped.

I agree with most of that, however if he said we are looking but haven’t found anyone suitable, it would at least prove he accepts we have a problem in that area. I appreciate that good creative midfielders and regular scorers are like hen’s teeth, just acknowledge the problem.

You won’t improve your squad paying 2 grand a week 😂 your players in the last year of there contracts will be cherry picked next season .
Pne wage bill is 22 million.
We are lucky a lot of ours out of contract so we can have a clear out this summer .

Piss poor defending.Just watched it again.Guy could of got nailed before putting cross in.The striker was 4 yards behind Thorniley telling him where he wanted it.Guess who got there first.Wasn’t the Viking who someone decided to let go.

Just dont understand why we set up for a point before the game despite being safe makes no sense to me trying to get a point instead of 3.

Connelly is not the problem his job isn’t to create goals.

We were playing QPR not ** Harrogate. Not sure what people expect with the players we have available.

QPR individually are a good team hence we should of put out a stronger starting 11, at home we can give the fringe players a chance but travelling to the capital I'm not so sure as historically we have always struggled, at one point last night there was 4 players on Dougall

Let's start by saying I am a big fan of NC.

However ....to start a game with 5 across the back, Lavery/Bowler/CJ upfront and then play the long ball continually .... then (quite rightly) swap it at half time by bringing Madine on .... and then pass it out from the back (or more accurately just across the back) .... seems very strange to me.
