Throw the Towel In?

Long throws and ball drying.Unfair advantage or fair game?.Just about the only point of interest from the WBA v Brum match just concluded

Replace throw ins with a tap kick in. Taker can tap kick to himself or a team mate. 10 second time limit if taker goes over this the kick in reverts to opposition.

I don't think it's an unfair advantage because in theory anyone can do it if they have a long throw specialist.
Using a towel isn't against any rules, so again not an issue.
Also theoretically, long throw ins shouldn't be too difficult to defend. As long as you don't let the ball bounce, the defence should be able to clear the ball.

Oh and stop the opposition from getting a flick on, just like we failed to do against an otherwise shite Cardiff side.

Bound to get player moaning that the Ref blew after only 9 seconds.
Todays players are like children, or worse than most kids.

Every club has done dark art tricks to gain an advantage at one point or another. I remember in Sam Ellis' days our pitch went up at the touch lines to keep the ball in play to help our wingers Alex Dyer and Mark Taylor. We also narrowed our pitch one season to limit space as it more suited our team. John Beck would leave the grass long because his side played long ball football.

Remember the pitch running up to the dead ball line, the sunken terrace really brought it focus.Just thought it was the lay of the land... to be fair I was playing Catforth Summer league at the time....cow pats and all💩😳👍

another area where independent timekeeprs would be a boon, ban the towels as its time wasting and give 10 seconds to complete the throw in, the timekeeper stops the clock at at 10 seconds and if the thrower has the ball in hand for more then 30 lets say the throw is awarded to teh other team.

The old fogey football authorities really don't like to follow the examples set by the rugby codes (and that includes respecting the officials).
For me, independent timekeepers are long, long overdue. Active play would be increased by at least 10 minutes per half & that gives value to us supporters.
Drying the towel for throws waste time, and gives the thrower an advantage; however, it isn't prohibited by the rules - maybe it should be.

The short throwin should be banned.

Throwing the ball to a team mate 2 meters away is pointless and usually gives the ball back to the opposition. Neither player can control the ball so it’s goes out of play or they get tackled and lose the ball 🙄

Long throws cause problems for the opposition

To get the ball to a colleague's feet 2 metres away should be given as a foul throw.
