Today.

He kept doing it and they did nothing to change it. They allowed him space to run into which is what he's good at. He's not good in tight areas or when he's closely marked. Their left back couldn't cope and they did nothing to help him. So effectively they did ignore Hamilton as they did nothing to lessen his threat.
This is the beauty of avftt. News of CJs total ineffectiveness got through to Maloney so he decided not to worry about him. All that was needed was a minor tactical switch and he was completely flummoxed.

I suppose it depends on what you consider to be ‘out of position’..

It never ceases to amaze me how supporters seem to allocate these ‘positions’ to players, yet the bloke who works with the players day in, day out at training doesn’t get it.
The problem is squad numbers. Sir Jim was always a RB and wore No.2. If he was injured someone borrowed his shirt. None of this playing the right half at RB and CJ is a left footed winger and should be No.11. You ask Tommy Hutchison.
Critch has a lot to learn. 😂

It's still 1 to 11 in the NWCFL. No squad number nonsense.

Which tiers have squad numbers?

So you think he will do that every game, even against the teams that sit back, even after what we've seen this season?
Critchley has said that Hamilton started as a right wing back, we pushed him further up the pitch because Wigan allowed it.
He had a good game and Critchley saw how he could best use him, won't be like that most of the time.
I think we'll see him play further forward more often than not after that performance. He'll have good, bad and ok games like all players.

From our vantage point high in the west it looked like we played a variation alternating between 4-4-2 & 4-3-3. With CJ moving forward when we had the ball then dropping deeper to bolster midfield when Wigan had the ball.
Either way it was pretty effective.
It was a weird wonky 3-5-2.

I'm not anti Hamilton, in the right conditions he is a good league 1 winger. I just wanted to give credit to Critchley for spotting the space that could be exploited and to Hamilton for having a good game, but I don't think Hamilton should be a guaranteed starter against every opposition.

There are games when he shouldn't play because there isn't the space he needs. Every game this season in up to the Wigan game. The first team this season that decided they could out football us. I'm wondering if Dembele will replace him in a lot of games, but Critch is super loyal to CJ. I don't know how the team will evolve going forwards.
