Todays figures for Lancs

I might not understand it properly but yesterdays listing for Blackpool showed a rate of 137.7 and a downward trend.
Todays rate for Blackpool showed a rate of 147.7 and a downward trend. Forgive me but 147.7 is higher than 137.7 so is the trend not upwards?
Trend over 7 days.

Unless I’am mistaken all those areas have recorded small rises in infection rates.
I'am not confident at all we’ll see Lancashire lowered to tier 2 this week.

Me neither. Wouldn't surprise me if they left the tier's as they are. Because, people in London have to be able to go to the theatre, right?

London shouldn’t have been put in tier 2 in the first place with the infection rates it had but hey it’s south of Watford and our concerns count for nothing living up here.

I can see everywhere either staying or dropping into T3, If they are forced to drop London into T3 due to an increase in cases they will just say T2 hasn’t worked therefore there’s no point anyone moving into T2.

Spot on Scara, plus don’t think they will release T2 into T3 days ahead of the 5 day Xmas relaxation making the risk window even longer!

They will either:

Put the whole of London in tier 3 and leave the whole of Lancashire in tier 3.

Split London and some tier 2/3 but leave the whole of Lancashire in tier 3.

We will be shafted again either way.

That doesn’t auger well for any revision as I have heard that the Greater Manchester Police have already been told to prepare for Tier 2

I got an e mail off Twelve in Thornton this morning stating that they hope to be able to open after Wednesday. Kinda compares to GM Police 😜

When I went on the govt site yesterday Wyre and Fylde were both below 100

Radio Lancs get their data from that site, but calculate the rate a day further forward meaning that (because it uses specimen date) it's more likely they've not included all cases and thus their figures are less reliable.

What you're seeing is the difference between 7 days to 8 December as their data would've been yesterday and to 10 December as GJJW has posted today.

You will always find a tier 2 and tier 3 area split by one road/street ,so it should be looked at per local council , as has been done in Essex . I’m sure they will have no more than 25 yards splitting tier 2 and 3 .

Rates going up, and high. Hospital numbers still high. Over 60s still high. I won't be surprised if we're still Tier 3.

Staying in tier 3 looks likely and sensible, I feel sorry for pubs, restaurants etc, and their staff, many of whom will likely lose their jobs. The fact is it’s pretty certain that come the middle to end of January, we’ll be in lockdown again.

These are the Blackpool daily numbers (with the right hand number prior to the totals being the most recent)

and the Fylde numbers over recent days1608059610972.png

The Fylde numbers 8 or 9 days were particularly low and as these drop off the Fylde rate appears to increase although in a couple of days it looks like the average could drop back again.

You’ve given me false hope now 🤞🤣

I can’t see it though, Preston council have put out a statement this morning saying they expect to remain in tier 3. Hopefully they do as suggested and split the county up but I really can’t see it.

Is it today we find out?

Yes think so. I expect to stay in tier 3 tbh.

Watching Sky news last night some medical guy was pushing for a tier 4 in the new year for the worse infected areas.
Basically all non essential shops to close along with schools, and pretty much everything else he even wanted essential travel only being made the law said it’s the only way we’re going to keep the virus in check until everyone’s vaccinated.

Merry Christmas!

I simply do not trust this government to come to any logical decisions. As much as I would love to go to the pub, I think we will remain in tier 3 and actually think the sensible decision is to leave everyone in tier 3.
However, I hate the feeling of injustice and we are currently below the rate that London was when put in tier 2. Also, reading between the lines, it is a done deal for Manchester to be downgraded to tier 2. As we are below their figures , logic says that we should also drop a tier.
Don’t hold your breath though!

How I see today/next few days panning out...

Manchester into Tier 2,
Londoners push for a cancelled Christmas,
Pfeffel "holds out" against the confected pressure to "save" Christmas.
Nobody mentions the last lockdown which was meant to prevent all of this anyway.

New Year; numbers up. Northerners blamed.

Had it occurred to you that there are more people living in London who want "permission" to travel to meet family than there are in the rest of the country put together?
I'm well aware you want to visit your family. You've been 'laying the moral groundwork' for justifying breaking the rules (should it need to come to that) for the last few days on here 👍🏻
